Hi,

I wish to remove my forks and rear shock to have them serviced, I've removed the forks before however I've never done the rear shock.

I have an AbbaStand with front front lift kit i.e.
https://abbastands.co.uk/images/products/display/abba-front-lift-arm-01.jpg

This allows me to get both front and rear wheels off the ground, is this suitable to use to remove the rear shock?

I'll be doing it in my garage so I could hang it from the rafters if it's really required.

Thanks

Just bear in mind a swing arm goes both up and down Smile Down mostly if you take off the shock(s)!

Does your stand have the rear swinging arm resting on it? It appears to from the picture?

Abba stand is connected to the swing arm pivot and the strap at the back which is used to lift the front is attached to a bobbin (used for paddock stands.)

Does that affect the situation?

The forks are my main priority, but I would prefer to get the whole lot done at once.

The front lift arm pulls the swing arm down, therefore if you remove the rear shock then the lift arm will no longer be holding the front wheel in the air.

Right? Laughing

Makes sense, I'll have to hang it from the roof then.

So it’s pulling the swing arm down? It should be possible to remove the shock at the back then but you’ll have no way to wiggle it to get it to line up when refitting it?
