Hi all. So I'm looking at getting a 2019 honda fireblade 1000rr.
Had a quick look in the usual insurance comparison sites and it's coming up with £1500 +

Are then any companies that focus on brand new vehicles?

A bit about me:

Full UK license
3 years no claims
Current bike is a 929 that I pay about £200 to insure.

Both the 929 and the new 2019 blade fall into the same insurance bracket. [/u]

Brand new bike insurance generally smacks you in the face during the first year. I got mine down to less than £400 fully comp but I did have to raise the combined excess to £500 Sad

I was quoted £100000 for my S1000RR first time.
Got cover from MCE for £350 though.

Moneysupermonkeys dot com.

I didn't know the MCE company so sort of avoided. Some of the budget outfits are arse if you have to make a claim.

This was in 2011 when the bike was new.
I had about 9yrs NCD too and continuous use of big bikes over 1000cc. But never a super sports.
The S1000RR was relatively recent then too so probably statistics were not available.
Almost all insurers will quote bit rather than being impolite and saying no way Jose they quote NASA figures.

Same as if a drunk driver wants insurance. His original insurer must by law offer cover after a ban.
They are not limited to how much they can charge though. 🤣

See if the dealer can cut you any slack or do a deal on it. Some manufacturers have deals going with insurers.

Let them know it's a deal-breaker. You can afford to buy the bike but that the insurance loading is 800% what you're currently paying and you'll have to walk away and buy something else/second hand.
