Hi, me asking this time. I have an old Honda XL250 motosport which I'm getting back in the road. It had a seperate bridge rectifer and voltage regulator. The reg packed up years ago so I have ben running a zener diode off an old Triumph ( lucas system) to regulate the DC voltage to 12v using a a capacitor, not a battery. The lights work on an AC system and the brake light and horn on DC. The ignition is independant with it's own winding, points and coil.

Things have moved on a lot now and combined regulator /rectifier systems seem the norm now, which would tidy things up a lot. Can someone suggest a suitable donor bike for a 6 volt reg/rec ( the DC was 6v originally) that I could buy. The old CB125 twin looks a possibility. There's also a little square unit off the CB/SL 125 single that looks an option. I want to make sure its full wave rectification, not half wave like some of the smaller bikes use . Thanks
