My theory is if he genuinely was going to commit suicide he would have dropped an infobomb exposing all his dodgy "friends".

Probably just wanted to avoid prison. Being a child abuser in prison probably isn't a great time. I'm actually quite surprised they haven't started using cooked up pedo charges against people in the UK such as Tommy Yappy-Lennon who have inconvenient things to say. It's pretty easy to cook up such a charge, not that we want to give TPTB any more ideas.

He was 66 and looking at up to 45 years.

he did some bird a while back after coping a plea deal to a lesser charge, from what the article said he was on some private wing and allowed out on day release to work for 12hrs a day, so it wasn't exactly hard time.

But it sounded very much like his fame and fortune wasn't going to save him this, so he just decided to off himself rather than face the consequences.

So he would have been 111 when he got out of jail. Not counting time off for good behaviour of course

Yes, I don't like this '$100,000,000 and it's all OK' perception.

I take it in the US the plaintives ask for what they want before the case is heard rather than being offered a figure by a Judge upon conviction.
