Anything to argue against the facts in that waffle?
Diggs wrote: | Let me try to explain it in different terms. The EU sees Turkey as a buffer, across which the great unwashed have to travel to enter Europe proper. Make it harder for people to enter, fewer will try. What we have therefore is a physical obstacle in the form of a wall then hundreds of miles of arid land containing a hostile population. This is a more effective deterrent than people arriving in Turkey then being helped to make it to the northern border. Not complicated.... |
That's pro EU biased opinion.
Yes or no, would it have been easier, cheaper, quicker and more effective on preventing illegal immigration into the EU if the EU built a stronger border between the 100 or so mile borders with the two EU countries of Greece and Bulgaria, than wasting 7 times as much of our money, taking 7 times as long to build, protecting Turkey from Syrian immigration?
Wall or not, the Turks are so corrupt, all you'll need to do to cross is wave a few Dollars at the guard. This is how Turkey works.
If you want to secure the UK, it makes sense to secure the UK border with France, not the Border between France and Spain. Only a fool or a staunch Europhile would think otherwise. ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.

Easier, cheaper and quicker probably.
More effective? Do you think the EU chose the Syrian border for no reason at all? Have you ever spoken to anybody who has been posted to that border to give you the slightest idea of what happens there?

All I was wanting was for MDMA to acknowledge that EU funding had gone towards something he agreed with, but no - apparently they built the wall in the wrong place...
Bloody EU - they try their hardest to accommodate him but no, they can't even get that right. This is reminiscent of trying to debate with my wife... ____________________ Now - Speed Triple, old ratty GS550, GSXR750M

Sorry, I’m failing to see why I would want a pay for a wall that protects Turkey whilst still allowing them to keep their cottage industry of smuggling people into the EU going.
If it to protect the EU, it would have been built on the smaller borders of EU countries such as Greece and Bulgaria who are crying out for help with their borders with Turkey.
You really have lost the plot if you agree with where the EU spent your money building this 1000KM wall. Trump = Hitler, EU = hero. Does not compute.
You don’t get it do you? It was built to stop the Kurds being able to retreat into Turkey, nothing to do with protecting the EU. The Turks hate the Kurds with a passion and shit on them at every opportunity. ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.

Think about that for a second. Why would the EU pay for a bloody great wall for the sole purpose of stopping Kurds from coming back into Turkey? Is it just conceivable that it suits the EU to have a buffer zone policed for free? ____________________ Now - Speed Triple, old ratty GS550, GSXR750M

You see this wall between 2 non EU countries, paid for by the EU, using our money, as the EU defending itself against illegal immigration.
In reality it does nothing to stop the Turks from shoving illegals into the EU as it does nothing to protect the two bordering Eu borders of Greece and Bulgaria from illegal immigration from Turkey and it's other 7 non EU countries it borders with.
It's been built, along with the other smaller walls, built by Turkey, to persecute, divide and trap the Kurdish community who've lived along that border for hundreds, if not thousands of years. You know this, you're not that stupid, you're just playing devils pratvocate again.
It's ethnic cleansing on a mass scale. Kurds account for 20% of the Turkish population, this wall is nothing short of what's happening in Palestine, but the lefties are gleefully ignoring how the EU is funding the persecution of an ethnic minority by Turkey, by dressing it up as protecting the EU, even though it does nothing to stop illegals coming into the EU's two bordering borders, via Turkey's other 7 non EU borders.

MDMA old chap you still haven't explained why the EU would spend millions of pounds to assist the Turks to persecute the Kurds, if there isn't something in it for the EU.

drifting slightly off topic, but the fate of the Northern Star, always seemed to me to be some sort of metaphor and representation of the state of shipping in the UK overall
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SS_Northern_Star_(1962)
built in the UK in 1962, and sold for scrap in 1975 |

Completely off topic now, but my Grandma's brother was at Gallipoli. He contracted a case of the squirts, his world fell out of his arse and he had to be evacuated to Blighty by hospital ship. ____________________ Now - Speed Triple, old ratty GS550, GSXR750M

I'm not sure if some details have been omitted in transatlantic reporting but I can't find anywhere that says the EU stumped up money for the Turkish wall, plenty on providing security and surveillance assistance along said wall though in the form of Cobra's and electronics. |
I'm not sure in the grand scheme of things, it makes a blind bit of difference whether EU money paid for the concrete blocks themselves or the staff and military hardware patrolling the border. Both come out of the same pot of money in Ankara. At the end of the day the EU has pledged 3,000,000 Euros to Turkey on the pretence of protecting the EU from illegal immigrants and none of that money is finding it's way to the borders between Turkey and the EU, where Greece and Bulgaria are desperate for help, instead it's being used to cleanse Turkey of it's 20% Kurdish population ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.

I've already explained my reasoning in words even you can understand. Your just back to your usual in playing devil's advoprat again.
Here it is again, as you ignored it for not fitting your Pro EU agenda the first time around. I've also explained how, if this really was to boost EU security, they built and armed the wall on the wrong borders.
mpd72 wrote: | I don’t know why, but then the EU always has its own agenda. I should imagine Herr Merkel has ambitions of extending her empire into the Middle East and Turkey is the ticket. If Turkey has no chance of joining according to your idols in Brusells, why are we still throwing billions of EUros worth of cash and walls at them?
Have a look on a map at where the Kurds are holed up now and you might see my point. The Turks want them all exterminates and EU money is speeding this up, whilst people just like you blatantly ignore it and put a positive spin on it. |

No, your precise words were 'I don't know why...'. You then added a vague statement about Ms Merkel possibly wanting to expand her empire into the Middle East. Exactly the precise words I just showed you again, which you still refuse to take in because it doesn't fit your pro EU agenda.
It's a mystery to me as their reasoning is clear bullshit.
Maybe you can tell us why your idols in Brussels are still throwing billions of Euros at Turkey when they claim it will never join the Federal Superstate of Greater GEUrmany?
You could pretend, like they do, that it's to protect Europe, but we all know (well those of us free from pro EU programming), that if that really was the case, the EU could have spent far less money and made far more impact, by simply securing the 100 mile actual EU borders between Greece, Bulgaristan and Turkey, instead of between Turkey and Kurdish regions of Northern Syria. Why are the EU still subsidising firms like Ford to move production out of the EU from countries such as the UK, to Turkey? Security too is it Tarquin?
Round and round in circles. Some people can't see what's going on right in front of their eyes because they believe the positive spin propaganda sh1t fed to them by pro EU media sources. ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.

So on the one hand you admit that you don't know, then you state that 'some people can't see what's going on in front of their eyes...'.
