So your father took a UK test, passed it, and then moved to Spain before applying for and receiving his full licence entitlement.
If that's really what happened, then it doesn't look good for him. There is a time limit for sending your test pass certificate to the DVLA. Can't remember off the top of my head what that time limit is, but there is one.
Tell your father to check his entitlements here:
https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence
If he has a full licence but just never got it through the post, it will be possible to sort out this matter. If. |

It sounds to me as if it was a CBT.

If that's the case, I have no sympathy for the OP's father. He knew what he was doing all along when he chose to omit getting a licence.
When in Spain, I always did everything by the book, never broke any laws, etc. Spain is not a lawless land, but it's treated as such by members of a certain generation. It is REQUIRED to respect Spanish laws if you live in Spain. In Spain, if you have a car driving licence (full, obviously) then you can ride a 125 without any sort of test, because A1 entitlement comes with it. CBT doesn't mean anything outside British territories.
I must say, having encountered some truly arrogant and odious Spaniards (who are a tiny minority but who have the capacity to truly irk) who are deeply prejudiced towards British people, the sort of Britons who always think they can slip under the radar in Spain give us all a bad name, and I resent them. The vast majority of us obey the law, and pointless petty lawbreaking just adds fuel to the fire of typical Spanish prejudice.
Sorry, OP. Tell your dad to start telling you the truth. There is a reason most of us obey laws. Breaking laws is dumb unless you have lots of style, can get away with it and can do it BIG. Smart criminals = white-collar criminals i.e. professionals and investors. Don't follow the wideboy way in life. It leads to nowhere and you end up with egg on your face. |
