Well, it's your money.
EDIT: What did you expect to find here, anyway? Did you expect someone to say cool idea, go for it? Sure, I was young-er once, but I have never tried to push a 50cc two stroke to go any faster than it could, because I could wait a few years and then get several times bigger four strokes, just laughing at all the 50cc boy racers who waste way more money on their pocket rockets, than I ever did on any of my machines, that I kept stock.
And yes, there are people with the money, determination and knowledge to turbo their machines, big bore kits, race cams, lightened cranks....... even if it makes no sense, as well, but they do have the money, determination and knowledge to do so, doing it just for the fun of achieving something, not just to gain a few extra mph on their commute to school/work and back every day.
I say, do it if you want. I also predict you will be sorry you ever took it apart.
You made me think. IF I wanted to break the law and all that, I would probably just fit the RS125 engine in it. Speed + reliability, no one can visually tell the difference.
EDIT II: Best carburetor? The stock one from the RS125, I suppose. ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ

What make is the conversion and is this a stroker crank engine? And if so are you using std cases, and did they have to be trenched?
I ask as I thought the biggest bore AM6 conversions were around 75-76cc and for the 80-95cc conversions you had to stroke them as well?
A 90cc motor won't be cheap, so don't skimp on parts, and you won't understand this but don't run it as a daily driver, it probably being a highly strung single ring motor, just won't last or be reliable enough for depending on as transport at all.
I've seen a few AM6's with the TPR86 conversion and they make over 20bhp but just don't last more than a few hundred km. Not much good for a road bike even for an emotional/hot headed/immature 16yr old who can't be told, and thinks its the coolest thing to do to their daily ride.
I don't want to sound all Teflon Mike with an Autists yard full of scrap, but I've got 3 KMX engines and a few old top ends and spares, because I like messing with my bike. But If I was going to ride to work on one, I'd be using a totally std engine and looking after it, without scrimping on parts, oil quality or maintenance. |
