Step #1 should be to wear the appropriate eye mask. Rolling Eyes
Wait until he has flash burns to his eye. You can also get flash burns from staring at electricity pylon wires arcing.

I have also found that welding in short sleeves is not a good idea either. I had arc burn on the inside of my arms, but at least it did look like a suntan after a couple of days.

The rays pass through clothing too.

That's why real welders wear Ass-less Chaps and Aprons. Drooling
