Anyone know if the seat lock on the ZX-7R is an actual lock or can it be turned by any Kawasaki key like Honda ones? My ignition and tank use the same key but the seat lock doesn't turn and i'm not sure if its just jammed or its keyed differently, if the latter then I know I need to buy one with a key.

It would have been the same key originally, either the seat or ignition might have been changed or it's stuck due to not being used or corrosion. Maybe it's broken and been held down with a bolt unless you know different.

Both are keyed locks unless worn out but both have less pins than an ignition lock.

You missed us again then?

You may buy blank Kawasaki keys on ali-china-express.

If you can get the barrel out, you can rearrange the wards (or file the outsides off) so the current key fits. There are plenty howtos on this. They are not complex locks.

Thanks stinkwheel,

I disassembled the lock and it only had 3 wafers in it, 1 was flush, the other two out of line by equal amounts above and below the surface so swapped those 2 around and it's now keyed to the same key as the rest of the bike Thumbs Up
