So this year I'm going to be running my CRF250L throughout the winter so I'm looking at options for warming my hands. As well as commuting I still regularly go for all day rides in the winter so heated stuff is needed.

Specifically I'm looking for comments from anyone who has used both heated gloves (looking at Gerbings) and the heated grip/muff combo.

I normally use a set of heated grips paired with Tucano Urbano muffs on my VFR and find this adequate, just wondering if the gloves are worth the price premium over this setup really. The CRF currently doesn't have heated grips so I'll need to buy something anyway.

I had muffs on my ZZR, after having it re-painted due to accident damage I didn't want to scuff the paint so went down the route of heated gloves.

The heated gloves are good, but as mine were glove liners I had a larger bike glove over the top making things quite bulky and a faff to get sorted to go.

In the space of two years I went through a few cables which kept breaking due to flapping about / being man-handled, occasionally shorting out also leaving me with cold hands, and often cold and wet hands, but the wet was more the fault of the over-gloves. Some days would be cold in the morning needing the heated gloves but in the evening warm enough to be too hot for the bulk of the gloves and overgloves even without them being switched on.

I'd often have to take two pairs of gloves with me

When I changed bikes to one with more clearance around the bars I put muffs back on and then fitted heated grips, I'll be sticking with this combo.

Not sure if we've seen reports of their use in the wild, but heated muffs are also an option these days too.

Probably on snowmobile forums, they get heated visors too.

I run my own diy heated gloves and did have a few initial issues with cable breaks etc, but seem to have progressed to a reliable construction. I still have some heated grip elements that I keep meaning to fit, but haven't gotten around to it.

Once we get into full on wintery weather the muffs go on regardless for the improved rain protection and warmth. If I was only doing a short 15 to 20 min ride I probably wouldn't bother, but once you're doing 30 mins at motorway speeds....

Having done both, grips and muffs. It’s just convenient to not have cables and thick gloves.

Cool, I shall likely stick with my current muff and grip setup then. Cheers.

I've had both and the grips and muff combo was the best option I used summer gloves all year round and never got cold hands.

The heated gloves were keis brand and the wires and plugging them in did my head in.

Grips - Conveinent cannot lose or forget them. Effectiveness depends on the gloves being well insulated too which helps prevent the heat energy from the grips blowing away. But can work for short trips in light weigh gloves.

Gloves - Kinda ties one to that glove. Can be a phaph if cables involved. Can be lost, left at some place.
Effective but again, it is down to the quality of the insulation to a degree (no pun)

Muffs - Gehy. Just don't.
