Its stinking of exhaust fumes that bugs me most.
All the turbulence is obviously sucking back exhaust fumes
and was wondering if a tail pipe extension/deflector type thing
made from sticky back plastic & old washing up bottles a la Blue Peter
or bean tins now I'm grown man and allowed to play with sharp things would help lessen the stench

I may do some experimending bodgineering on this

Bikes are often quite stinky when I am following in a car. It is maybe that the ones I notice have carbs on them rather than fuel injection. On the other hand, I was passed today on the way to the Lake District by a kit car that absolutely stank of badly burned hydrocarbons. Certainly a carb fed lump. Reminds me of the fraud of modern chicken licken concern about modern diesel vehicles poisoning the cities. It's a bloody lie. We never had cleaner vehicles than the post 2000 types.

My old things's probably not quite finely tuned as it could be but
lean or rich I'm still riding along in a fug of exhaust gasses
so will experiment to see if I can divert some or all of it away from the bike

this evening I are mostly been making a tube out of some thin ally sheet.
I wrapped it around the can and held it place with cable ties and plop riveted it
2/3 the way along the overlap to hold shape.

Thats as far as I got tonight
Red arrow, fumes up, dont want.
White arrow, fumes away, good

Blue things:
Possible 'laminar airfowl guides' what encourages the air to
keep going, dont turn back and take that smelly exhuast with you

End cap.
Not sure yet
straight outlet? vanes to direct it down or to the side?
Still musing over that.

Took a look at that tube/pipe thing this morning
totally went off it and have abandoned that idea.

Thanks for the links, some food for thought as I mull it over
I like shaggyDAs downpipe that might divert some of the stinky
away but I also like stinkwheels shiny finned thing too!

The can has no nozzle to clip anything on too atm
but I could easily tack on an old bit of ( not rusty) car exhaust pipe.
The guy with a garage round the corner does my car MOT work and he always lets me skip dive when I'm after odd bits and gubbins for projects.

I'll take some measurements and collect some materials
