This has to be an FAQ here but I can't find the answer so...

I'm shortly off to Spain on the bike for a couple of weeks - will be my longest tour so far - and am a bit concerned about my butt. Well, not concerned exactly, but at my advanced age I know that it's going to be a bit sore at the end of each day's riding, and I wonder if people had suggestions for augmenting the comfort of the standard seat? I expect it will be hot too, so, sweaty bollocks as well. FWIW, the bike is a BMW 1200RS.

I've heard good things about sheepskin pads which are cheap'n cheerful; also Airhawks for rather more money? Anybody know anything about BumBags? And there are any number of cheap-as
-chips items
on eBay. Anybody?

A sheepskin cover helps with the sweatiness aspect.

Cycling shorts are not a bad call but can increase sweatiness so good wicking underwear with them if you do.

Stuff for wheelchairs is usually cheaper than stuff for motorbikes if you are going for the cheap option, you can buy sheets of gel padding that you can build into your seat base if you have the time and you are prepared to cut it about.
