Which ScotOiler

Looking under the seat of my new second hand FZ1-S I see that it has a Scottoiler. Could someone identify which model it is and give me some idea how to fill and use it?

It's a vacuum driven one and you pull the plug off on lhs will the pipe on it to fill it. Edit: you could use the pipe attached to fill it but I've found it incredibly slow that way.

The pipe in the centre is the vacuum and the knurled bit is to adjust the flow rate.

Edit: you might want to rotate it so the filler hole is at the top so that you increase capacity.

Scottoiler have a good website with more than you ever need to know about their products.
The answer mail enquiries too.
Large dealer/retail network so quite simple to get parts. Or you can mail order from the web.
The units are fairly fuss free.
Only two issues are make sure the oiler has oil and set the metering to just oil the chain and no more.
The nibs/injectors are the wear part if they contact the sprocket. But set up correctly they shouldn't really touch.
And but the scottoil for it. It has more than just oil in it.

I've found the vacuum based Scottoiler (the one shown) works best in temperate climate without extreme variation in temperature. Basically, it works alright in the UK; it doesn't work well at all somewhere like Spain in summer, where the knob is more like an on/off switch and you'll find it empty after a single trip.

Yes, you can get thicker oil, but then you need to swap again when it's colder, monitor drip rate, adjust according to temperature, etc.

The electric pump version is much more economical with the oil; not so important for monetary cost, but rather for less faff when touring.

Don't bother buying the oil from scotoiler, a gallon of cheap chainsaw oil is considered to be exactly the same.

It's one of those items that is loved or loathed.

Wifies old Divvy had one which I could never seem to get the nozzle thingy in the right place.

The twin ones are meant to be much better.

Always used gear oil in my scottoiler. Never had any issues.
