Crosman 'Ratcatcher' Co2 Air Rifle

Well i'm sorry to see it go, as I’ve had many fun times with it on my mates farm But I need the cash, so here goes....

This gun has only had the one owner since purchased, it is in immaculate condition and has a load of goodies with it. The extras I’ve included are:

Crosman Silencer
An official 'Ratcatcher' firearm's carrier bag
Marksman pointed lead pellets
'Coppa-point Pellets' (which are obviously pointed copper pellets)
Prometheus pellets (for those that don't know what these are, they're a steel tipped pellet, with a nylon covering, they have amazing power at short range. An idea of the power would be, I’ve shot a hole through a metal wheelbarrow from about 15 metres away and the sheet of metal was about 0.4cm thick
As standard the rifle came with a 4 x 15 scope, but with the mounting brackets I got with the scope, it's ready to shove a bigger one on their.

So the guns clocking on about 7 months old now, and is still in very good condition, and for the lot i'm looking for something about £100, but i'm open to offers!

Eh?

It's an air rifle - anyone can own one, providing it is under a certain power limit. As this one doesn't say otherwise, I assume it is.

air guns are perfectly legal, rifles can be up to approx 700fps + I *think* or around that sort of mark anyway as many of the current rifles for sale are 560fps and a few higher.

C02 rifles such as this are also legal and so are C02 pistols.

If your under 18 and get caught with one you'll more than likely have it taken away from you unless shooting safely on private land and it's illegal to sell air guns (and soft air afaik) to under 18's.

I have a .22 rifle and used to have a 177 C02 pistol and both were/are perfectly legal.

Be careful where you shoot though as you will get into trouble if your shooting at inappropriate places such as your front garden or anywhere public.

Back gardens are okay as long as your not endangering anyone.

Don't take what I say as gospel, I'm only saying what I'm "aware" off as I used to belong to a gun club and just going by what I remember from them, but I don't claim to be right but I will say that this rifle for sale is 100% legal to sell to over 18's

This gun, is indeed classed a 'Firearm', but just because it's classed as one, it doesn't mean it's illegal. For a firearm to be illegal it has to exceed certain legal limits like the amount of pressure the gun can produce to propell the pellet, the FPS (foot per second), I think is also classed as a bench mark on whether a firearm is legal or not. Maybe this is of some use?

New law states that any weapon exceeding either 378 fps second with a .20 gram pellet is classed as a firearm.

Think you need to remove your posts. I've also got a Ratcatcher and anyone over the age of 18 can purchase one. Where you use it is a different matter.

"Airguns do not require a licence unless they are over the UK legal limit of 12ft.lbs muzzle energy for rifles and 6 ft.lbs muzzle energy for pistols. Providing you are within the age requirements almost anybody can own one".

As the Ratcatcher has a fixed stock it is classed as a rifle and can therefore exceed the 6ft.lbs limit of a pistol. 550ft.lbs for a rifle is not overly powerful. Electric powered airguns are different due to the rate of fire. CO2 powered airguns were illegal in the UK up to a few years ago, but are now fully legal to buy and sell.

I have an ex-Chinese military carbine training air-rifle, which has a stock muzzle energy of 14.5ft.lbs, which can be upgraded witha new spring to around 17 I bought it from Cash Converters \o/

CO2 rifles and and pistols are legal for over 18s (was 17 until recently) and also they have to be supervised by a person of 21+ (but no-one does this ). All as long as it is under 12ft.lbs (as you said dainesefreak, mine does 14ft.lbs , don't ask how). Anyway it is fine to buy and sell them without a dealer certificate, as long as the buyer is above 18. If they are not, the seller is elageable for prosecution. However dew to the "friendly, friendly guns kill, not people who use them" sort, the government has banned 'Brocock' pistols and rifles recently and there is work to ban CO2 pistols followed by rifles very soon (but I don't think they will get a ban on the rifles, you can't hide one in ya pocket anyway). But bare this in mind. It ain't fair or right, but people think guns fire themselves for some reason ! I have my firearms licence filled in and ready to send and this is for 22 caliber cartridge shot bullets (anything that is 22 caliber and propelled by an explosive charge) and up. No licence is required for anything under this caliber (with very few exceptions) but it is very easy to have a air weapon taken off you! So be careful.

I don't think they should ban them at all, I DO think they should have a licence system for them (Yes even air rifles, and C02 177 pistols) as in the wrong hands they can do some damage etc etc. I'd happily apply for a licence but there is no way someone is going to take my rifle away from me without giving me a fair bit of cash for it!!!

The government usualy think "banning" something will just make the problem go away.

They don't know nowt though.

Well Yams that is what I have always said. Licence them, but don't ban em. Is the same as the blank firing pistols and rifles. I have a couple, and they say they are too easy to re-activate. The thing is I have blueprints for AK47s, Colt 1911s, Sig Sauer P228, etc(I pulled em off the net), which if you had the tools to re-activate a blank, you could remake a full-auto 5.56mm rifle with not much else (just a little more time ). Also if ya wanted a gun, you can get a good pistol (usually a 1911, browning or CZ75) for around £400. Again don't ask how I know that but anyone can get them if they try hard enough.

if you want a bigger bang from your air gun run a drop off diesel down the barrel .it makes a big difference .

I have deleted my posts, I dont know whether it is legal still but I have made my point about being careful when buying an item like this...

I hope I aint annoyed ya at all...and if it is safe to buy this someone can buy it, but others who know more seem to have said things...so listen to them...

Of course people are going to be careful with any type of firearm, well that's if they fancy keeping it But why still question an item like this and give negative feedback on the sale of an item you don't know much about? I put this item up for sale, not so people could knock me down on its legality issues to reduce even the smallest chance i've got of selling it here. But that's not to say i'm having a go at whoever had a say on the legal preferences on this gun, merely annoyed at people making myself and this sale look untrustworthy, saying it's dodgy. At the end of the day i'm with Yams on this one.

I also agree with Yams. An air rifle cannot kill someone (no more than an iron bar can), so I see no reason for them to be banned. In my opinion the law is fine how it is, a license required over a certain pressure.

Incidently, where did the auction go?

They removed the listing of the firearm, for reasons along the lines of, they do not allow the sale of firearms on the web site

Although if you do a search on eBay for types of air guns and stuff there's still quite a few on there
