Just curious, i'm new to these boards and have noticed *alot* of talk about 125s. It seems that most people here ride a 125, and also most of you are in the UK.

are you talking 125cc?

Is there a restriction on the power you are allowed to have in the UK?

Not trying to be insulting, i just think that i would be more scared on a 125 than a 600+...seems like it would be hard to get out of a dangerous situation if you needed that extra Umph.

Well there are a few 125ers on here as it derived from NSR125.com, but a majority of us ride bigger bikes than 125's.

Most I would say are on 400-600cc, I myself am on a 500 Smile.

It's because you can ride with L plates as a learner on a 125.

Lots of lazy people here who can't be bothered sitting their test.

stev, i'm from Oregon in the USA, but currently stationed in south dakota. Been riding dirt bikes all my life and just picked up my first bike (kawi 6r 636) 3 months ago.

I'm used to being on the 'little' 600s along with a few others, but most of the people we ride with ride a 1200cc.

I got mine up to 146mph the first week i had it...i guess that's the fun part for me.

Learn on a 125 and then you make sure you don't get yourself in those situations!

Sorry, while I have very occasionaly used that argument, it is far from the truth.

The majority of times when a bike's power could be used to get someone out of trouble, the person's mind riding doesn't think work enough for it to be usefull.
I suspect the power gets people into a lot, lot more trouble than it gets them out of.

The times when I would say the lack of power is a hinderance is on 4 stroke 125cc bikes traveling at under 70 (national speed limit here).

Note that 17 yearolds aren't restricted, but, as Bendy said, you are restricted until you pass your main test.
