I stumbled across this site:

https://www.mrmegapack.co.uk/

They seem to have quite a nice selection of odd and sods, anyone used them?

Probably worth bookmarking if your doing a tart up
but caveat emptor

Out of idle curiosity I had alook to see what they offered for my old thing
and quickly found quite a few inaccuracies and unsuitable items which suggests
to me they're filling the listings with generalised stuff.

There may be bargains to be found but would suggest you shop and select carefully.
Also
There's no info of who and where they are or any useful contact info which I dont like much as it suggest mum's spare room
the site looks a bit cheap too but maybe that's me.

While I'm rantin on....

I have bolt list for my bike to show the type diameter pitch and length
of every bolt and screw used/needed.
( I've got ones for seals, bearings, alternatives etc)
Something like this is very useful when shopping and you may find it handy to start building your own dossier for your bike

For general stainless they arent cheap compared with a general ebay seller.

Best way i've found with bikes and old Land Rovers is take the bolt in to a engineering shop and they will most likely have one.

Recenty had a pipe drilled and tapped right wierd arse size, m11, ultra fine, lh thread.
They ordered the taps in, did the job then gave me the original bill for the taps plus 3pints for the time. Bonus got a set of useless taps out of it.

I've not had a proper look yet but when sourcing special fasteners I use these:

https://www.accu.co.uk/en/

If you know the fastener dimensions you can even select grades of hardness.

"Special" fasteners I don't mind so much it's normal ones I have a problem with. Let me explain...

For example: on the DT175 I am missing 2x 97021-06030-00 which are the bolts that hold the clock assembly down. Looking at various pictures it just looks like any old hex-head bolt with a partial thread therefore buying two bolts in Yamaha baggy is just stupid.

I can probably guess/measure the bolt required in this example but even so it seems a faff. Is there any resource somewhere that might inform me the generic equivalent to the manufacturer part number?

Thread pitch gauge, some calipers, and a selection of random bike bolts.

Find one that fits, chuck gauge on it, caliper length, ebay.

Places like Fowlers etc will have the bolt size as well as part number on the exploded diagram and associated parts list. Your bike, and that particular bolt, may or may not be catered for, worth a look though.

Yup, just started going through the parts pages doing just that. Bike is too old for Fowlers Sad CMS have the US version of the bike which shares 99% of the components of the Euro version but they just say "pan head screw" for €1.50 when I can probably get a bag of 10 for the same money if I knew what it was Rolling Eyes

Just lazy is all! Been through 2 parts pages so far and found about 3 parts I'm missing (or have perished in the case of rubber grommets) that don't have generic equivalents - not too bad.

<addendum> aha! starting to see a pattern here. For example 98580-06012-00 is a pan-head bolt that happens to be M6, 12mm long which seems to be hinted at from the part number Smile

Yup with nuts and bolts you'll need to do a crash course in learning about them. It's not that difficult and is more time consuming than anything.
For my engine there are 'fixes' that need doing - one is internal and holds the sprag clutch to the flywheel. Some engines went out with 'soft' bolts which shear and the pieces then eat the stator and other parts. The fix is harder/stronger bolts. I was able to find them on the site I linked to just by measuring an original bolt. If I can do it then anyone can.
