The type for AA, AAA and possibly 9v but not critical.

I have a right cheapy. It charges the pair of AA's or AAA's in maybe 10 minutes, or does it? Foes this sound OK?

I'm not convinced it's either fully charging or not killing my batteries which are standard maplins rechargeable.

Has anyone got any recommendations at not silly money and has to be for ni-cads or ni-mh's as I have way too many to think about changing too some fancy type of battery.

Thumbs Up

10 minutes to recharge a flat Ni-MH AA cell is definitely not OK.
The batteries are knackered and/or your charger is delivering
wildly excessive current.

I use a Maha Powerex charger to keep my AA and AAA batteries in
shape. At around 50 €$£, it probably falls into your
'silly money' category. It has four separate 'bays' that charge each
cell in isolation, an LCD display to show voltage and current for
each cell and various charging, testing, refreshing and diagnostic
modes. It has easily paid for itself over the last 7-8 years.

10 minutes does sound a bit quick but it may depend on the
charge state/ condition of the batteries

I have a TRONIC one I bought from Lidl or Aldi some years ago and it still
works a treat as far as I'm concerned
Bung in 1 or 6 AA/AAAs in or C/D cells even 9V PP3s
and it wil reject any it deems to be faulty or fubar,
then pre dishcharge some prior to charging or just start charging others.
It also seems to keep them in a trickle charge state when finished
until you whip them out.
Charging up flat cells take a lot longer than 10 minutes

they do seem to offer them up from time to time and I'd buy another
if I needed one
I even built a stand for mine to use less 'real estate' and store spare batteries

I did some research into this, as I wanted something that could charge individual cells and test and check them, and be compatible with Panasonic Eneloop AA batteries.

In the end I went with the Ansmann Power 4 light. It can charge USB devices (if there are no batteries in it) and can charge individual cells. It gives you a percentage charge for each cell and the voltage so you can get an idea of the health of each cell.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.
