Given we're soon to have a General Election I'm sure this will crop up again in the media soon.

I continue to be confused about this Antisemitism thing...

Is it the case that Corbyn hates Jews because he backs the Palestinians or the other way round: because he backs the Palestinians he incidentally hates Jews?

And why back the Palestinians anyway? Is it in the Great British Tradition of backing a losing side? "No I don't follow England in the World Cup but I do keep up with what's going on in the Gaza Strip!"

Or is it just a default position you fall into from chasing the Muslim vote?

"But we need to return Palestine to its people!" is not an answer. It was not the Palestinians' land in the first place, it was ours i.e. the British Empire...

...so don't give me any "it's their land" bullshit Wink

He hates the Jews because he backs the Palestinians.

Because modern day left wing politics comes down to the concept of virtue, and there is more virtue in backing the Palestinians. They hate Britain and all rich western countries, and they're really proud of it too, because they see it a virtuous. Israel is rich and advanced, and they are angry I suppose because Palestine isn't too, and it doesn't fit with their narrative. Of course you will never get a straight answer from a left wing momentum type about why they hate Jews and the west. See also "white guilt".

Corbin and his ilk support the Arabs, and the Palestinians in particular because it is a left wing trait to support the underdog, The Arab nations have lost every major war with Israel and are therefore underdogs, notwithstanding that they outnumber the population of Israel by 423 million to 7.9 million.

For the many, not the Jew?

I generally agree, the antisemitism thing has baffled me from the start. Seems to be a very long running and desperate attempt to keep throwing shit until it sticks.

There are a few who've stepped down from Labour with claims of "it's because I'm Jewish", which sounds a lot like the typical "it's cos I'm black" claim that certain folk on this forum tend to complain about.

I suspect anyone who felt ostracised in the Labour party, while happening to be Jewish, was more likely disliked by Corbyn because he just doesn't like rich or titled people. And all the Jews who stepped down seemed to be rich, with titles.

So many excuses. Or the simplest possible answer is that Jews just aren't very welcome in the Labour party which tbf is pretty much the reality. They generally try to use the cover of bashing Israel but occasionally the mask slips and "evil Israel" becomes "evil Jew".

Yep tons of excuses.

If tbf it's pretty much the reality then where's the hard evidence? All I have ever seen is wild finger pointing and hysterical articles from right wing rags and diehard pro Israel publications. Surprise surprise.

I always thought it was because the media is controlled by right wing rich cunts who feed us bullshit to vote for their right wing rich friends to stop the left wing socialists from spreading wealth more evenly with tax crack downs.

But what do I know.?

Stuff gets hopelessly conflated because Israel is a Jewish state so most Israelies are Jewish. Criticising Israel is then de-facto criticising Jews.

It appears you can't be anti Israeli policy without being accused of being anti-semetic and it's a fact that Israel does NOT play nicely with their neighbours (both currently and in ancient history).

The trouble is each nation (both the people and the government) in the area is made up of religious fundamentalists. Having the BELIEF that what you are doing is absolutely right, ordained by God and that the other person is fundamentally wrong does not make for easy political relationships.

Both sides of the religious divide will happily play the race card at every opportunity to stifle contrary opinion.

Labour back a lot of obscure and extreme stuff. Lots of it outside the UK. Could be Palestine, could be free this extreme political bloke from his own coutrys prison in Afghanistan. Whatever they do and wherever they go, sooner or later they will trod on something politically incorrect.

With what you're asking, there appears to be a few powerful shouty people (Blair likely encouraging them..) who winge constantly and get attention.
I don't support Labour - I'm politically neutral. Actually no - I despise Labour. They grew in industrial areas, became strong and then abandoned them to move to London - they used us. W*nkers.

It seems very self-defeating: railing against arguably the most "Western-looking" of the middle eastern countries to court some votes in this country.

If the currency of success in Westminster is how many seats you have it seems strange to chase down minority votes at the expanse of alienating the majority.

A simple example: the Lib-Dems have recently come out with two block-busters - old people are fucking gits for voting for Leave and, if elected, they would do their best to cancel Brexit.

Cornwall used to be a Lib-Dem stronghold until recently. But Cornwall voted something like 56% Leave and is also a place people go to retire.

Now is the word I'm looking for "correlation" or "stupidity" Thinking

Tbf, Cornwall wants to leave everything, including itself. And if the ferry chains across the Tamar broke, it would drift off into the Atlantic.

Why does everyone hate the Jews, all through history the Jews are hated. Is this because they like being the victim and so orchestrate so that they are, or are there other fundamental reasons?

I don’t hate them. Do you then?

I don’t see as a culture, that they lower my life quality or raise crime in my country, unlike many other cultures and creeds.

I suspect a lot of their problem from others was the nomadic nature of their culture and their desire do do well in other people’s countries.

When I say everyone I mean society, not the individual, silly.

With regards to religious practice and misogyny the Jews and Muslims are pretty similar. I mean: you can't trust someone who'd turn down a good bacon sandwich on a Sunday morning!
