Obviously, I can't beat dump in the shower study, however how many of you people have ever gone into bed with your shoes?

The first time I saw a guy going into bed with shoes was in 1990 - American friend of mine visited and has gone into bed without removing his shoes.

In my culture (Slavs), we don't usually wear shoes inside the house. Shoes in the bed sound wrong even by the British-American standards.

Funny enough, my legal English professor was American and he also adopted the shoes off policy in his Czech household. I asked him about it, and before he got here (CZE), he found it ridiculous to take his shoes off in his own house, or when visiting someone else's house.

Do all Brits wear shoes inside the house?

We don't in our house as a rule, but i sometime walk through the house with my shoes on. Usually if I'm on my way out and I realize I've forgotten something.

I think its respectful to remove shoes when visiting someone's home, particularly on the first occasion. Or at least ask if they'd like you to do it.
I'm not sure its a cultural thing though, more of an individual's sense of decency.

In my house its slippers for everyone, I couldn't wear shoes/trainers all day, the old plates of meat wouldn't get a rest.
