Cheap tarty bits for a cheap Chinese bike? Look no further than Ebay.
Your choice of (in order of cheapness):
1) Directly from China delivered in about a fortnight.
2) Say they are in the UK but are actually drop-shipping from China.
3) Actually have Chinese parts in stock in the UK so deliver them relatively quickly.
4) Online shop selling Chinese parts masquerading as something else.
5) Large retailer selling bespoke custom parts which are actually the same Chinese parts in a fancy box. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

She's 25?! What the hell happened to her? She looks more "boomer" than any "boomer" I've ever known.
Back in the 90s, 26 year olds had less mileage, I reckon. Thinking of one in particular.. |

Did any other dyslexics see this when they looked at the user-name?
Maybe I just have Miss-Piggy on my mind; Snowie came back from town today with the dog, who she'd bought a new jacket. Apparently, it's supposed to suppress anxiety, something to do with being tight. Personally I thought that was just Snowie being a bit generous with the treats, but, no, its scientific! "Oh! You got the Dog a Compression-Suit!" And I exclaimed .... "DOGS IN SPACE" which is probably completely wasted on most millenials who wont remember the original, british made 'Muppet Show' boom-boom-badoom..... parp! ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

Why on earth would we wish to subject any half decent Jap bike to this kind of mal-treatment? Go For it!
But expect the shitting frog riding position to be a pain in the orifice, A-N-D I suggest you go look up the defanition of 'Custom', 'cos this sort of CafeBratChop, is hardly novel, unique or even just a bit different.
Nor should you expect a step by step DIY guide to building your own, one off not very original 'creation'... you have to go do, and make it up as you go along, and if you cant find an accessory parts catalogue to drool over, and have to have money-back guarantees that the bits you buy will fit, without any engin-uity or craft skills required... err... yeah... just go for it.... and keep us posted! Could do with a good laugh! ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

Seems a bit pointless given there are plenty of either cruiser nods (Keeway Superlight - hey, I'm biased, get over it) or café racer nods (e.g. AJS) that are already half way there.
The ZSB doesn't have the same length or rake as the Lexmoto Michigan. (edit: I have no idea why I typed this rubbish!)

Having said that you might want to nose through:

Mate of mine reckons the rot set in when they took lead out of petrol.
He reckons it causes a degree of reckless, risk-taking and antisocial behaviour which, if you think about it, is what is missing from the current "lead free" generation. Like looking for a way to rebel that fits in with how everyone else is rebelling.
When the "older" people on this forum were OPs age, they were honking about on largely unroadworthy, illegally derestricted (and quite possibly untaxed and uninsured) 125 2-strokes. Not putting exhaust wrap and single seats on them.
There is a certain body of scientific research backing this up.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lead%E2%80%93crime_hypothesis
I met a "young" lad (well, he was over 24) recently. Passed his DAS a while back and just bought a 1080 tiger sport. I asked him how fast it goes and he replied that he doesn't know, he doesn't like going fast and has never taken it over 80mph! What's that all about?
And did anyone hear the one on Radio 4 where they gave teenagers a 2 hour slot at school every week to learn whatever the hell they wanted and they decided they wanted classes in Adult Life Skills? Not rock music, not gaming theory, not motorcycle maintainance or driving education. Not just at the one school either, the results were repeatable.
They should start putting lead in humous. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

It's already a custom style 125, you must have wanted that look to have gone out and bought it. There's no way you'll make a decent cafe racer out of that, the subframe and seat will be wrong and the tank is too short and round.
Anyway cafe racers aren't really that comfortable, so I don't see why you'd want to build one to ride daily. You could put some sort of cheap handle bar fairing on it, change the headlight, fit lower rise bars, and your naff looking exhaust wrap, but none of that will make it a better bike, and none of it will turn it into a cafe racer either.
If you want to sell this thing on, you'll get nothing for it once you've finished, you do realise that? I've spent £3000+ on my own 125cc bike, but I'm not daft enough to ever want to sell it or think I could get my money back. |
