Hi all still finding my way around the forum, old timer just passed my test when most riders are giving up biking.
Currently working on an old ER500 ive had stored for years.
I am hoping to get it running then hopefully sell it and replace with my first big bike. John.

Best of luck with the bike Smile

May I suggest you post technical queries in the Workshop area and maybe grace us with some photos of the bike in the Show & Tell.

(I think you can delete the double post if no one has replied to it.)

ER500 *is* a big bike - or the biggest of the small bikes, if that makes any sense. At any rate, it's easily enough of a bike to be on at this time of year when there's rarely a dry line to be had from one week to the next and the closest you get to such a luxury is a damp surface that seems to be equal parts mud, and spent oil contaminants of one flavour or another. Having something like a 500 twin makes for really stress free riding, knowing that spinning the back wheel up or breaking too hard (on a single front rotor etc.) is going to be a lot more difficult than on a "better" bike. Then, come warmer days, you can suddenly exploit new levels of grip like a veteran.

All I'm trying to say really is that such a modest bike isn't necessarily a reason to sell it on at the first opportunity.
