My donkeys years old boots are due for retirement so I'm looking for recommendations that are comfortable for the daily dag walk.

not too sure if this is what you want, but when I go hiking I use these landrover big hiking shoes (sort of like proper hiking wellies, but are good enough to be used on your bike as well)

https://cdn.fashiola.co.uk/L630030306/landrover-men-casual-shoes-casual-lace-up-boots.jpg

they have been ok for the last year, look a bit brown as covered in crap, but still have not collapsed (like my last pair)

and they look sleek

Alpinestars Web GTX boots are the most comfortable footwear I have
ever worn. Like a pair of well-worn slippers, even when they were
brand new. Ideal for walking the dog or putting your feet up
while watching telly. They can also be used while riding the bike.

I find Grisport hiking boots are a reasonable compromise
between price and quality. The more expensive (£100 ish)
models are still made in Italy. I'm hard on hiking boots because
I wear them all day, every day. My current pair of Grisport Quatro
boots are 2-3 years old and getting towards end-of-life.
https://www.grisport.co.uk/

A cheap pair of boots (Aldi) will last about three months of
similar use, so the Grisport boots work out cheaper in the long run.

Mammut are what I use for long haul slogs. Up to 60mile hikes in them, and scrambling in the lake district too.

Stupidly expensive though. Thumbs Down

Re. Hiking boots on a bike, I avoid laces after once snagging the lever/foot peg. I didn't realise one foot was effectively tied to the bike until I approached a zebra-crossing. After a moment of "WTF!?", leg-thrashing and slow-speed wobbling I had to let the clutch out and weave past the little old lady on the crossing. She turned out to have the vocabulary of a navvy, which was fair enough.

Buy a pair of these, then look after them and never buy another pair of boots again.

https://www.altberg.co.uk/product/hogg-all-weather-original/

I have a pair, and they are something like 17 years old now, and they are fantastic. They have been refurbed once, but other than a polish and regular sets of laces they have been great.

Muck Boots. I've got the Edgewater tall boots, putting them on feels like putting your foot in to a sheep.

Search eBay for high liability boots. Haix or Altberg both are excellent. Thumbs Up

Not sure tbh, there's no sign of branding on them.
I think I might have bought them from B&Q.
They've never been especially comfortable, I just got them for their waterproof properties. It didn't matter too much about comfort years ago but now I'm looking for something a bit more forgiving so to speak.

Actual wellies?

I wear wellies for a prolonged period on a daily basis as part of my work and have to walk about in them without wrecking my feet.

I like Dickies Landmasters but they are getting tricky to get from my suppliers. I used to do field-walking to inspect crops in these (so tens of miles every day).

Dunlop Purofort with the red neoprene lining are also ok (non steel cap, the steelies are really heavy, H&S insist I wear these now but I prefer the other ones)) . Some people (me included) get a lot of discomfort in their achillies tendon/heel with these but it's not the welly, it's the insole. Get ones that fit with the insole removed.

I've never tried Noras but some colleagues swear by them.

I have a pair of Rockfall RF290 for work.

They have a fibreglass toe cap so no where near as heavy as steelies but they are warm and comfortable.

Sole has come away from the heel on mine.
The Foot Protection Technician attempted a repair which hasn't worked.

They're past the warranty period.
£70 to get the pair sent off and re-soled.

To be fair, all the boot brands that I've used don't last more than 3 or 4 years before a split in the upper or a separation of the sole.

I'll get them re-soled because the uppers are in good nick, the goretex liner also.

[Edit] Found some new Altberg Defenders for £64. Gonna give them a try.

I'd buy the Mucker Splosher for the same reason.

Building a rep before spamming starts.

I suspect a lot of forums insist on a minimum number of posts before links can be posted.

Poor fucker doesnt realise its wasted effort here.

I'm expecting posts to be edited at a later date to add spam links because in theory no one will notice them apart from Google.
