When I was a kid we had a labrador that did that. Everybody would duly shout at her and she'd look embarrassed and run away and hide in her bed.

But the funny part was when anybody else in the family let rip in her presence (which happened a lot I have to say), she'd do exactly the same thing.

When I wanted to fart in front of my parents I'd drop it quietly by the dog basket and she'd get the blame. Still feeling guilty.

Worst dog farts are the same chemistry as the worst human farts.

The ones that go: Phsssssst and have an acrid sulfurous-caustic reek to them with an adhesive quality that stuns the surrounding atmosphere.

I've noticed this too. I pump almost constantly when going round the coop. Always silent ones in a "string of pearls" configuration.

I remember squatting down to look at the bottom row of the DVD rack and letting one go that was so foul, I saw a passing shopper check their shoes for dogshit.
