After getting rid of my t595 and xz9r I quite fancy a falco but I've been offered a Hornet 900 at a really cheap price, not Knowing much about them what does the bcf massive think of them will I be dissapointed after the zx9.
I wouldn't mind something a bit more upright although I might just buy it and sell it on for more if I don't get on with it Thumbs Up

I've had 2 and would have another tomorrow. It's not a bigger 600 hornet. It's more like the bandit750 we never had in 95! It's a very good commuter with a fly screen, it tours well, had givi kit on 2nd one. It's better than a cb1000r first gen, but only just. Honda got the naked sports bike right with the x11 that didn't sell, then they deruned the 919 lump a bit too much and released the hornet 900. There was nothing wrong with it, it was just 10 years too early. The 900 is a much better bike (if unabused) than a cbf1000.... check out the specs. A 2006/7 model in good nick would be my choice. Or a 2002 low mileage one, they never changed it! Condition and lack of extra bling would influence me, not age.

I've always liked the idea of the 900 Hornet, it looks like the 600 but with symmetrical exhausts that improve the rear end significantly. The original Hornet looks are the strongest feature of the bike and it looks aesthetically pleasing unlike later transformers/Alien style naked bikes.

I'd always pen a naked bike with a big single or twin round headlamp, and a really wide pair of low rise straight handle bars, and ideally some under seat pipes.

I think the Hornet 9 suffered from having a little bit too basic suspension and brakes and the 918 motor should have been left at closer to 120bhp and just down geared from the Blade donor. It's a bike I've never ridden but I could always imagine a modified special example with blade running gear and nice suspension and wheels.

In that respect it could have been maybe Honda's Tuono or Brutale instead of a slightly too soft and forgettable fat brother to the funky original Hornet.

I'm probably showing my age with my like for bikes of this era, but when stuff got to have electronics and rider aids, and nasty Transformer/ Judge Dread looks, I went soft and walked away from new bikes.

Maybe they should have tried to put an 1100XX engine into one, but that's a big heavy lump of a motor in comparison to the Blade lump that was such a good engine in the pre 150bhp everything days.
