Hello all,
My hornet 600 (2005) has a dead battery. I can't charge the battery because the screws are messed up and I can't remove them. Tried to bump start it, but as she have the HISS system, I can't put 2nd gear and it doesn't work in neutral. I tried the bump start in a slightly inclined road. Would I be able to bump start it in neutral if I manage to get the bike to a big inclination road?

Thanks all

How would that work, you won't be turning the engine over in neutral.
Bump starting isn't easy on modern bikes it might not work at all if it has got really low as various electronic parts won't be functional at all.
You will need to charge it or jump leads to it somehow

Jump start for the win.

Bump starting in neutral is impossible. Laughing

Start from jump starter to make sure it's ok. Then sort battery. But, please send us a video of bump start in neutral. Please. Shocked
If terminal screwed, no problem. Cut wires at end and then refit connectors.

Battery terminal bolts are removable with either a screwdriver or a spanner. If neither the cross head nor the hex head are serviceable try pliers, or light taps with a punch to rotate.

Not directly related to this but still funny...…

20 or so years ago me and my mate were working in a factory when one of the gaffers came in and told us his car wouldn't start and could we give him a push?
We went out and the two of us gave it the fastest push we could and shouted for him to "try it now". Did the daft fucker not turn the key as normal and used the starter motor, but to our amazement the car started. Off he went with a big thumbs up. To this day I'll bet he thinks that's how you bump start a car.

The same driver (and car) came to me a few weeks later and asked me to look at the car - it was sitting in the car park. He told me it had been pulled off the motorway by the AA the night before after the AA patrolman had diagnosed that one of the big ends had let go. The driver thought that the AA mechanic was a bit premature in deciding the engine was scrap and asked me to check the car for him. I went outside with a similar thought in mind, wondering how the AA man could tell a big end had given up, did he have x-ray vision?

That was until I saw the two studs protruding through the sump....

Not trying to be funny but if you cant get terminal screws out of a bike battery however fcuked you shouldn't be let loose with tools.

Punch it round. Cut a slot in it with a hacksaw/dremmel/universal tool. Drill the head off. Even give it a good twat with a cold chisel.

There are a myriad of choices and the worse that can happen is you have to replace your battery so get in there and abuse it. Thumbs Up

Or as others have said, just jump it for now.
