Sorry, I'm sure you get this a lot but can't seem to find any information about it.

I am 18, and have a Category B full license, which I've had for just over a year as of now.

As far as I understand it, currently I can ride a category AM bike, with L-Plates, on the Road for the purpose of a CBT; but otherwise cannot ride a motorbike.

If I take a CBT, would I then be able to ride a category AM bike, without L-Plates, on the Road for as long as the CBT is valid?
And at the same time, would I be able to ride an A1 bike, with L-plates, on the Road for learning purposes?

Thanks in advance.

Short answer. Nope.

Because you did not do your full car test before 2001 you need a CBT to ride anything up to a 125cc bike. You still have to have L plates on.

Cool, thanks to getting back to me.

So I still need L plates, even with CBT, on an AM? viewdrivingrecord.service.gov.uk says I can drive AM, subject to a CBT (restriction 122); where as it says I can drive A provisionally condition to a CBT (obviously with the age limit, not a full cat A). Which I would think means I have full entitlement to AM if I take a CBT, which would mean no L-Plates. But obviously I could be wrong. Attached is an image from said site.

Thanks again for answering; I might be asking for a CBT for Xmas/Birthday.

Slightly complex you after a CBT can ride class AM without L plates but class AM is 50cc restricted to 28MPH not much fun and only good enough for short trips round town

You licence + CBT allows you to ride class A1 with L plates
A! is 125cc restricted to 15BHP gives 55/60MPH

there are 3 wheel bikes you can ride on a car class B licence but be very careful the rules as to which don't need class A are complex !

Alright, thanks! Think I'll stay away from 3-wheelers and the complex licensing around them.

Thanks to all for replying!
