Been off big bikes for a couple of years and lived abroad so off bikes for a year in that as well. Anyway picked up an SV1000 v.cheap very recently and will be looking to get some new tyres in the new year.

Used to have Pilot Road's on various bikes (up to 4) but not sure what to get now. Riding is very average and will be in mixed conditions, mostly dry, but not commuting.

Anything better out there than the Michelin's now?

P.S. did have another username but forgot all details and re-set was'nt working so started new.

The PR series is plenty good enough for average riders in mixed conditions, so I don't think you really need anything better...unless you were finding their limits easily? Nothing wrong with trying something different though, but I'll leave suggestions to others, since I haven't found their limits and am quite happy with PR4s Smile

I was never anywhere near the limits of PR4's so may just get them again. Just wondering if tyre tech had moved on since then and Michelin's were superseded or there were similar for better value out there as I remember the PR4's being expensive. Thumbs Up

I don't think the 4s are bad price-wise now since they've been superseded by the PR5. No idea what those are like though. I usually stay a model behind for this reason [/skinflint] Laughing

The PR4s come in different flavours.

GT will have a harder compound in the center and the edges are slightly harder too.

They also do a trail version.

Supposed to last 20% more than the PR3s.

They will still show that odd wear pattern but less so than the outgoing 3s.

Not used the PR5s

Also used the Dunlop Roadsmart 2s which I found to be good.

PR2s were my fav.

I've read a lot of people commenting on that, but I've never experienced it (I use non-GTs) Confused

PR2s were excellent, but I never got much more than 4k miles from a rear with those.

It's a kind of lipping...an upturn on the leading edge of a tread.
The other thing some notice is a very thin (1mm or so ) black line in the middle.

IIRC the standard PR3s displayed this odd wear pattern more than the 4s.

Feathering? Old Bridgestones were the worst for that. But no, I haven't had it with the PRs. The thin line down the centre I seem to remember was something to do with the construction of the tyre, not a fault.

I never said it was a fault you racist.

I think it's an anti-static thing but don't ever ever quote me on that.

Very Happy

Pilot Powers work very well on the TL1000R.
