I have to say I'll be relieved when this general election is over.

I presume it has been the same in the past but I can't remember the twats doing such blatantly stage managed sh1t PR exercises in the past.

Chicken farms, pulling pints, going to school etc. etc.

How many people will change their minds about who to vote for because of the lies and mis-truths they all speak.

I would say there is a pretty decent cross section of people on this forum and I haven't seen one say they will vote differently from what they said right at the start.

I know it doesn't help that none the leaders are fit to run a soup kitchen let alone a country but are the electorate really that stupid as to be swayed by what are basically lies that they are allowed to say and then retract at leisure once in power.

I suppose some gullible 18 year olds could be fooled into thinking they will do what they say but who else.

Like you, I've seen enough General Elections to realise that whoever ends up in Government, they won't do later what they say they will today.

I haven't changed my mind about who to vote for either. Trouble is, the Greens aren't putting up a candidate in my constituency and are urging folk to vote Labour instead. This means a straightforward choice between blue and red, and I don't want either to win an outright majority. I'd rather have a hung parliament this time around because both Labour and Conservative need reeling in a tad IMO.

If people are stupid enough to vote and expect someone to fulfill their election campaigns they are either extremely gullibe and/or stupid.

We get the assholes we deserve. People don't necessarly vote for who they want, they vote against who they don't want in power.

And I do love having a good laugh when I'm told by not voting I can't complain Laughing yeahhh Kkkkk Thumbs Up

My main concern is that I think Corbyn will at least try to do everything he says he will. Which is a scary prospect.

Are they? This area is a Tory safe seat.

There are no protest vote options here as the only other candidates are Labour and Lib Dem.

Same here, Dominic "I know Kung-Fu" Raab has about the safest seat in Parliament. The Lesbian Undemocrats are going full tilt though (my area is ~60% Remain) so much so that I wouldn't be surprised if the Electoral Commission have a look at what they've been up to. Everyone's moaning they're getting around 6 or 7 leaflets a week and the latest wheeze is fake handwritten letters that look like they've been personally made just for you! These have exposed another clever trick: getting the names and addresses of people not even on the electoral roll Shocked

I have a feeling these tactics may backfire: they'll be plenty of vaguely Tory voters who don't bother on election day as it's always a done deal but the Undem's push is so obnoxious they'll all turn out in spite Smile

I'd have to say this is quite funny though:

I totally agree with this campaign it's been full of sh*t from them all. I'm sure that in previous campaigns Labour didn't spout so much cr*p but this time around they've been very vocal and full of them (lies).

We all know they're lying. Just a shame they can't be held accountable for it.

What's the feeling up your way, I think even the Teesside seats in Middlesbrough/Redcar are going to throw some surprises.

It's been a strange journey doggone.
It all started with burn politics and Brexit is the only topic going. Now? It's changed..

Firstly with social media it's a mess. So many lies and so many half intelligent friends being swayed by the promises of local political representatives.

I live in a Labour stronghold. Ronnie Campbell is our MP but he's retiring. I'm familiar with the woman stepping into his shoes - she's done a lot for the locality. This area is changing massively - new house building is dragging new people to the borough and many are from 'down south' and appear to be people selling up, buying cheaper up here and living a more peaceful life. Their politics will be very different to the traditional views held up here and will change things lots. Something has happened though..

I actually think that Labour here are listening to peoples views and doing something about it - I've not seen it happen here before. A few weeks ago we had the door knockers and our opinions were passed over. The first thing I've noticed is far more labour posters plonked into house windows - we would see a few but this time there are lots. I'm also seeing a lot of houses with signs to vote Labour placed in their gardens. Me? Well for 5 days running I've had the postie deliver a vote Labour leaflet to my house - they're being delivered to every house and regularly.
I think that what's happened is Labour have realised they need to 'up their game' here to keep hold of the votes. I'm seeing a reaction to what they've had as feedback. It's actually a good thing and shows they're listening at least on a local level. Previously they've known that the vote would come to them easily but not now..

Final predictions from me?
I'm politically neutral. Always have been. For my area (Seaton Valley) I predict a Labour win. Not from all of the posters and leaflets but through chatting to friends away from social media. Although many despise Corbyn (listening to media too much methinks..) they'll be voting Labour. Their reasons being that on a local level they've done so much for us. They're actual people we can speak to and they will help us.
Locally here a Labour win and nationally? I've a sneaky feeling that Labour will win.

I think I'll stick a hundred quid on Corbyn to win.

Not because I want him to but if he does I'll have £1400 to take to the pub and drink myself into a state of numbness before the inevitable collapse of the country. Laughing

Ah but I don't gamble mpd. All I'll say is something tells me that Labour will do far better than people realise.
I think this election will be quite exciting.

Laugh with him, laugh at him but Boris will make you laugh. Granted, his policies suck balls. It probably would have been a close one if the opposition parties weren't lead by dangerous nutters with manifestos trying to outdo each other for insanity levels.

Corbyn and Wee Jimmy Krankie literally scare people. Have we gone back to "it is better to be feared than loved" with our leaders so soon? And then there's the highly medicated madness that is Jo "I'll be the first female Prime Minister (no, the other two didn't count)" Swinson Shocked

Unless you're an extremist this has to be the shittiest election for choice I can recall in a long time Evil or Very Mad

I just had labour ring my doorbell.

Them - 'Hello, we're from Labour, have you voted yet?'

Me - No.

Them - 'Would you like a lift to the polling station ' (That's with a Jag and an Astra sitting on the drive)

Me - Could you drop me off at the Red Lion in Fenny after?

Them - 'No'

I thought that was rather unaccommodating myself. considering everything they have promised Laughing

Regarding lifts to polling stations. You, as a voter, can ask your preferred party to give you a lift to the polling station. You don't have to promise them anything but if you're a known supporter I'm sure they'll be happy to help Smile

Offering lifts to random voters is a little shady but unless they directly ask for your vote in exchange for transport they aren't technically breaking the law. Agreeing to transport you beyond the polling station is a definite no-no (could be classed as bribery.) If you were a paid up Labour member then it'd be different.

I have been offered a lift to vote from the young Labour-activist couple at the bottom of our street. They are door-knocking and offering lifts to people who said they'd vote Labour but haven't been seen at the polling station yet.

The road outside 'The Kremlin' (as we affectionately call No.1) looks like a taxi rank at the moment, so they are going for it big-style.
I predict mayhem as the evening progresses and I am tempted to leave my vote as late as possible to see how often they knock on my door, and whether they start to offer other inducements. I reckon 20.00 for Quality Streets, 21.00 for home-made cake, and if I leave it until the very last minute she may offer me a blow-job...

There is a difference between offering somebody a lift and suggesting that they vote a certain way. I do however think that offering 'gifts' to accept a lift would be wrong.

Its less 'Bab's Cabs' and more short grey hair and a Berghaus fleece in a Skoda Yeti, judging by the cars out there and the comings and goings...
