Stinky Helmet

Afternoon, and Happy New Year to all

Right that's the pleasantries over, now my problem ....I had a nose bleed in my helmet a few weeks before Christmas, thought I'd managed to remove all the gore but obviously missed the fabric strip that attaches the detachable chin curtain, it now stinks proper rancid (HJC helmet, this bit doesn't come off without scissors).

I've tried febreze and soaking the offending article with disinfectant but stench is lingering

Anyone got any other (helpful) ideas for neutralizing nasty niffs ?

I use Carex for getting out dried black engine oil from carpet and dried sap stains in fabric.

Plenty of Carex over the stain, stain then dissolves into the soap, lifting it out of the fabric. Then just several wipes of a damp clothe.

If it's dried behind padding, wetting the interior likely won't help much.
Washing powder is designed to deal with this kind of stuff but when it's dried you basically have a stain, white vinegar would be worth a try, and get plenty of air round it whenever possible.
Eventually it will dry out totally and all but go away - unless you get it damp.

Person Aeriel bio. Hand warm water and let it soak.
The bio powders have enzymes that work better just below body temp. But any cleaning usually involves agitation too unless something too delicate.
Nothing in a helmet that counts as delicate. They are made to suffer sweatie noggins for hours.
Soak it overnight then rinse the fcuk out of it and let it dry.

Ta for all the suggestions chaps, I've squirted, doused, soaked and rinsed with everything under the sink that says it kills 99.9% of bacteria so hopefully that and a quick spray of WD40 should sort it out ....
