I'd have a go on one as well. Thinking

Any boxer engine would be an interesting experience. After all those years on in-line four cylinder machines, I decided every other bike I get must be something else. Now having a fun on a XBR 500. Up next, a V2, triple cylinder, V4, flat four, flat six, rotary (not real)...

I almost bought a Soviet Knight in the early 90's, but bought a Kwak GT550 instead. Would probably still give one garage space.

I feel I never took my 2-stroke obsession to its proper conclusion in my youth, so I'd like to try an RG500.

Oh and I was very taken by the GSX-R1100 when it came out in about 1985-ish so wouldn't mind a go on one of these also.

Well, those definitely aren't bikes you need to feel guilty about wanting to try!
Everyone should get to have a go of an RG500. I never tried the Yam 500LC, but I get the impression it was heavier and not quite as potent?

The GSXR750 of that time was a much more fun ride than the 11. Both will be a very different kettle of fish compared to modern sports bikes though, and should probably be seen in their own context now if you've ridden more modern fare. They might just be a disappointment.

I once saw a Honda DN-01 at an MOT station and was enchanted by its low height, purple paint and weirdness. It looks much better in the flesh. Power and weight stats put me off but I still fancy a go. Also, as a late-comer to bikes, any lightweight 2-stroke. Finally, a modern 200hp litre-bike with all the electronics, although I hope to be unimpressed compared to my 2003 R1.

Someone at work's got an old fully restored Ural, makes a Mk1 Massey Furguson tractor look high-tech. I want one, but with a Lewis Gun on the side car.

My mate had one of these, I’d like a go just to see if it’s as terrifying now as when I used to get a pillion home from the pub (well, it was the late 70’s) I’m sure it did about 150mph lol

Not on anything with a left-hand sidecar, unfortunately.

Guilty pleasure?

https://i.ibb.co/cXzZTNN/10657781.jpg

Shortly after I got my first road bike (TS50ER) my mate let me have a go on his CB200 on the street outside his house.

Felt like a rocketship to me, all that torque and a disc brake, heady stuff!

I wouldn't go out of my way to restore one, but I might be tempted to own an up and running example, at the right price, peculiar rubber strip along the top of the tank and all.

I was wondering about that when I saw this:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-CB200-1976-Customised/133289074419

But obviously you should prefer the original look:

I don't do turning a shit bike into an even shitter bike.

Why do people think that buying something that wasn't good to begin with (which is why it was cheap) then spending a stupid amount of time and money making it even worse, suddenly makes it worth grands?

It's an insult to general intelligence and the real cafe racers in particular

Trying to tell Hipsters that Cafe racers were bikes modified and stripped so they went faster might as well be me shouting into a black hole. They didn't add tat to pose outside a "handroasted bean and avocado emporium" with every other mongtard that owns a shitty beemer derived bike and flannel shirt without actually riding the damn thing more than 50 yards.

That's the sort of quirky bike I'd like in my stable. I actually think it looks OK but as you say, it's underpowered.

Something else I thought of. I remember these coming out and wanted to try one back then but they never made mass production and I've actually never seen on in the flesh.

https://darrelkirby.files.wordpress.com/2016/03/p1050240.jpg?w=848

I'd probably hate it but would love to give one a try.

I'm afraid he may be beyond that. I think we're at a point where only heavy sedation will work.

Can I add Mrs Bastard's twin sister?

Okay, she'll have to lose a couple of pounds but then I'd be able to say I'd had the brace.
