I suppose the Golden Ratio is a mathematical definition of beauty. Yes, some supermodel with a face that conforms to the Golden Ratio is almost universally accepted as "beautiful" but one doesn't necessarily follow the other, i.e. you quite often discover the Golden Ratio in beautiful things but applying the Golden Ratio in the construction of a piece of art does not necessarily make the thing beautiful.

So just a game of sophistry then?
