Why spoil a bacon sandwich with sauce? If I want a tomato sandwich I’ll make a tomato sandwich. I don’t - I want a bacon sandwich - white bread, butter, smoked bacon and no bloody sauce!!!

In the interests of research I’ve just had my lunch which comprised of three sandwiches. One was with brown sauce, one with red and the other neither. I stand by my statement!

AOL. Green, NOT smoked, though. Back or streaky is ideal. Not too lean or it won't taste so nice. Bacon goes well with a sprinkling of chopped up cheese toasted onto in to make it even more healthy.

Trivia: Bacon cooks quite well in the microwave.

It does. It also seems to smell more when cooked there too which stinks the corridor out at work and makes everybody envious of my food - win!

No sauce.
Just a properly fried but still slightly soft in the middle egg.

I would have gone with middle bacon myself, but just lately I've taken to streaky.

Not smoked
Or at least, not "smoked-flavour".

Middle, you used to be able to buy bacon called middle - like a cross between back and streaky. Of course smoked.. oh and brown sauce, red is only for sausage sandwiches.

edit: - pah HK, just read your post - beat me to the middle obsv. Rolling Eyes

I think what hellkat is trying to say, in a tactful way, is OP needs to grow a pair and lay down the law.

I have been very brave and gone out and bought my own Warburton's loaf. I have hidden it at the back of the cupboard.

You haven't met my wife have you? I was on death's bed and she was taking pictures of me for fun. She loves the sight of blood and pain. I once suggested a bit of S&M, she brought out a chainsaw, anvil and lump hammer. Shocked

You've fallen at the first hurdle, the idea is not to hide it, but slip it into the bread bin next to the cardboard loaf of dread.

As Stink said, the only real difference between basic white and brown is the colour of the flour, if you want to go mental, check out the sugar content of the various white loaves and buy the one with the lowest, but assuming you aren't troughing a loaf every day, white bread isn't going to kill you, despite what your missus might think.

BTW, I've also had a couple of serious health scares in the past few years, but I refuse to be a complete martyr to them; I look after myself a bit better these days, but I'm still eating white bread, I'm still here and my weight and cholesterol levels are dropping.

I suggest that the best way to come out would be to get up earlier than the rest of the household on a Saturday morning, pop a couple of slices in the toaster on a light setting, put a couple of kippers on a plate, cover with kitchen tissue, microwave until hot. Slather toast with butter, fill with kippers then head back to the bedroom munching said sarnie and ask her if she'd like one. Best served wafted all around the house... Laughing
