On a little 2-stroke that's been sat for 6 months, I'd expect it to smoke a fair bit initially.
I predict that once it's warmed up and taken for a bit of a run, it will seem to hesitate and refuse to rev cleanly for the first 30 seconds. It will then stutter for a bit before suddenly appearing to "clear its throat", come onto the powerband and surge up to the redline. If you look in the mirror at this point, you will see an horrific pall of blue smoke spiraling out of the exhaust that would cause Greta Tunsberg to fall to the ground and have a foaming at the mouth seizure. This will continue for a couple of miles then clear as the engine gets properly hot.
It's basically burning off all the old oil that's settled in the bottom of the crankcase while it's been sat and the carbon/soot in the exhaust system. All my 2-strokes did that after sitting for a while.
If it continues producing a lot of white rather than blue smoke once it's had a short run, suspect the head gasket leaking coolant into the cylinder. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink.
