I have a Netgear Wireless dongle at work for internet access and a few of us connect to it. I want to get a external HDD which will connect to the wifi hotspot and share folders only over the local network for several people to access.
Any recommendations or pitfalls to avoid? ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

You can get portable hard drives with WiFi built in.

The biggest pitfall is you are letting multiple people access the folders on one HDD. Presumably as read/write users and not read only?
As such, someone WILL fuck it up. 100% garaunteed. Make sure you have good offsite backup. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

Off-site is difficult as we're sharing 8gb and some files are not only big but edited/shared daily.
I thought the passport drives we're non-wireless Paddy?
I've been looking at the 4tb WD my cloud ones on offer in Curry's. Never used anything like this before so I don't know how suitable it will be and how I can set access levels but for £140 I might just get one and see. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'
