Has anyone ever tried to improve the view and degree of adjustment on their mirrors? For a certain kind of fastening method I came across a really simple method - have a look at this:

https://www.motorcyclenews.com/new-rider/choosing-kit/2012/march/mar1412-how-to-improve-honda-cbr600s-mirrors-/

I'd be into trying this but I can't suss out what to use for that "8mm black PVC" stuff. I searched on eBay but the materials that came up in the results were too much like foam, or were two very thin sheets sandwiching an all but hollow centre. In short they just weren't the right thing.

It's just a spacer. You could use a piece of plastic chopping board, or stick pieces of ABS sheet together, or use some fibreglass, or aluminium, or melt some polythene into a block to cut down, or ....

I thought MCN had dissapeared up its own arsehole 15yrs ago. Does anyone still buy that arsewipe rag???

Mirror extenders have been around since . . . Oooh, mirrors were first invented.

They make the difference between a good view of your elbows to a good view of your shoulders.

Use delrin/acetyl sheet (cuts/machines like a dream) or aluminium plate.

Mock it up in wood. If it works then plenty of time to find a material you like Smile

I can't really think that there's any need for a WEEKLY bike publication in this day and age but it's little more than glorified advertising at this point. And what they advertise isn't bikes so much as PCP.

or just use the wood. It's incredibly strong in compression. Epoxy over it and it'll be weather proof.

Ply will work fine or you could find an offcut of something fancy for "detail" like a luxury car door inlay. Maybe two 3mm sections of burr walnut with a thin layer of brass in the middle.

Could even go on ebay and buy a set for around £15 if you're feeling Lazy. Look for CBR600 mirror extenders.

Nothing to stop you using long set bolts or studding and nuts to see what happens. You could at least see what would happen with vatious "thicknesses" of spacer.

I put some spacers/extenders on the mirrors of my Bandit S.
Something similar to this: https://www.justbandits.com/mirror-wideners.html
Mine cost a bit less on eBay. They are a big improvement over the
standard setup.
