Yup been pulled and I got a lovely letter from the bay of evil.
Account hacked and I've to raise a complaint through eBay for monies to be stopped but it looks like PayPal spotted the account and froze any payments to them anyway.
Such a shame that cos I'm currently looking at a tig that's £700..

I love TIG welding but it's not something you can do on the cheap.

An acquaintance bought one a good few years back that didn't come with an impulse generator to flash the arc. You had to actually touch the tungsten rod on the material like you do with an arc welder. Obviously as soon as you do that the electrode is contaminated and your weld is crap.

I presume nowadays that is all built into the machine but back then it was an add on for the cheaper units.

All this welding talk makes me want to go out and stick some metal together. Cool

All built in. I've had a mess with scratch start and as well as contamination it damages the tungsten. They call it high frequency start and is basically a high voltage that's run at the same time as welding current and forms a spark bridge to allow the arc to form for welding. No touching required.
This is a cheap (British built) unit I'm buying and DC only. I can't justify £1100 to be able to weld aluminium too (though it's tempting!)
British Built, German electronics inside and a 3 year collect/repair warranty. I'm getting the foot pedal control too. Machine is an R-Tech.
Massive investment for me this and quite literally like going from a B&W TV set to colour here - the workshop is about to have a massive update and rebuild. I intend to weld in there and it's not fireproof.

Ventilation? It's only thoriated tungsten..
The R-Tech purchase is on hold - I asked a simple question and they can't be bothered to answer it FFS. Plenty other suppliers out there.
