It's been hotter than that in Florida for most of March, 35C where I was working 80 miles south of home today, and yet it's still spreading... |
The length of time it lasts on the surface depends on factors such as temperature and the type of surface, for example at around 37C (98F), it can survive for two to three days on glass, fabric, metal, plastic or paper.
Apparently a persistent little bugger. |

Those figures are an irrelevance unless you current quote active cases. Until that point those figures could go either way, death or recovered.
Germany, for example was a late starter so even though they currently have a low deaths figure, many cases of infection are still ongoing and that figure will shoot up. They have almost 20,000 ongoing cases, compared to the UK at under 4,000. ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.

Testing figures are also misleading, those above suggest that Germany tested far more people at an earlier stage than the UK and, in doing so, found more cases. Here in Florida it has only been a few days since opening up testing to all suspected, prior to that if you hadn't been abroad or in contact with a known case then you could go whistle. ____________________ Make mine a Corona. |

I seem to remember hearing that the UK at one point had tested over 35,000 and only found around 2,000 cases. This suggests a lot of people are being tested without serious identifiable symptoms. If they were, do they just have a cold do you think, or does the figure include a lot of the civil service, rich and sports stars? ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.

In South Korea (pop. 51m), they're doing around 4,000 tests per million people. It can test about 15,000 daily. They can do a drive-through test, and get the results in a day.
Here (pop. 67m), our government plans to do 10,000 a day, eventually reaching 25,000 tests a day by this time next month. |
