Don't know if this is the place to ask, but just what would be the best oil for my 1987 Aspencade. I need to change it and wonder if it could use special oil for older bikes (about 67,000 miles on it). Also, does anyone have a preference as to the best brand of oil filter? Thanks.

Such a vintage classic you need to use castrol unobtanium.

10w40 for sure, unless you live somewhere never gets below freezing, in which case Honda says you can go for a 20w50 if you feel the need.

I take it that was one of the last 1200's

If so 10W40 semi synthetic although 15W40 is popular with Yank Goldwing riders.

I use Shell oils but that's because I used to work for them and have Shell shares. Cool

Oil filter? Any name brand although I can't say I've ever had issues using unbranded stuff in other bikes.

The big thing with those engines is not to leave them on the side stand for long periods or they smoke like a 60 a day Marlboro man on startup and it doesn't do them any good.

This will do. Nothing special about age or milage. The cbr6 has been using it for the last 65k of 124k miles and is currently on a 14k extended service interval Embarassed
