For questions that don't really need their own thread...

First question: If I pay for every little (or big) thing on my credit card, then pay the balance on the credit card before there's been any time for even 1p of interest to be added, will it do anything to improve my credit rating?

I have been told that if you pay off most of it and always pay more than the minimum allowed that's the fastest way your score improves but it depends on how bad your score was to start with.

I have various credit cards I use for different bonuses, an Amazon one for Amazon purchases, an Asda one for Asda etc. I always pay them off completely within the time limit so I never get any interest but my credit score hasn't budged in years.

Make of that what you will.

I've had a couple of credit cards for almost 2 years and was putting small purchases on one then clearing it before it was due, about 5-6 months ago I checked my credit score and it was in the mid 200's, (basically where it started before I got the cards), I had to put a flight on one and left it at the minimum payment until last month then cleared all but £30, I got an email saying my new credit report is ready last week... and it's now up to the mid 300's Confused

Does checking your credit rating really knock down your credit rating?

Depends who does it and for what reason. You checking is fine, no effect.

If by credit rating you mean that figure that credit ref co's give.

Forget it. That figure is meaningless to lenders. They never see it. They all use their own internal scoring. It is your credit history that counts. So no missed payments, bounced DD's etc.

And watch out for the credit ref co's offering you loans/credit cards. They are getting a kickback for these.
You will get much better offers going direct.

Like ketchup, mayonnaise should be kept in the fridge after it's been opened.

It makes no difference if you used a credit card to buy the mayonnaise or the ketchup.

Riders are dying in the rain because we're not allowed to discuss what a certain less than fully grown man is doing. Worse still, the Coronavirus has added months of delays to the production of [name redacted]® because the ungrown man can't get cheap low quality parts delivered from China China. Shocked

Do you need an answer for that?

Is that your final answer?

Or your final question?

Not necessarily.

Would rhetorical questions be off topic?

My mental age exceeded 14 about the time when the best part of you slid down your mothers leg.

Well they certainly wouldn't require an answer, so they have no place in a thread on the subject, do they.

Ah so...
Riders are dying in the rain because they don't close their visors and drown. Confused
You can buy mayonnaise, ketchup, and soup on a credit card without changing your rating as long as you put it in the refrigerator .

It's the 14 yr old Frenchies that are bell ends for naming soup soup.

No question was asked here. Cool

Hmm... not as divisive as I'd hoped, okay.
