I've just been informed that we've just booked a holiday in Droitwich.

I'm going on holiday to Droitwich.

Not for me those exotic mediterranean destinations with things like sun, sand, nightlife, daylife & healthy young ladies in skimpy bikinis.

Instead I gets to go to Droitwich . . . in February.

I’m trying to wangle a bit of a holiday break in Wales (St David’s) in mid September.
Hmmm? I wonder if it’ll rain? Confused

Never heard of it so I looked it up. Sucks to be you.

I used to go to cheap destinations in europe for duty free smokes, it didnt matter what the place was like as long as it was cheap. You could always tell it was gonna be shit when the top listed attractions are churches, and walls built by the tears of Santas children etc..

Laughing

Thumbs Down

It could be worse, I know someone has just flown to The Philippines via Hong Kong, it's not altogether certain they will be allowed back - and if they do, should he sneeze we will rush away screaming unclean, UNCLEAN Police

There must be a reason.

Is it the centre of swinger land maybe?

You can fly all over the place with Ryainair for less than £30 return, wouldn't bother holidaying in this country ever again

Could be worse: My mother used to holiday in Ashington. She'd go there by train - 8 miles up the track.

It's better than Walsall, but that's not hard! UK holidays can still be good if it's a characterful place, with great scenery, warm summer weather and has lots of interesting tourist attractions or historic buildings/sites or facilities.

So that's always then! It's just you have to accept it'll cost more more than going abroad for anywhere decent to stay in summer, and the rate of meeting complete arse holes in every place you visit is far higher than abroad. Wink

Where are you staying, might be able to tell you places to avoid?

I wish when someone comes up with bizarre statements like going on holiday to Droitwich they would respond to the questions.

WHAT IS GOING ON IN DROITWICH?

FFS I might want to go there myself if it's interesting enough.

Just about the only thing going for Droitwich appears to be the fact that her majesty, the duchess of Butler doesn't have to board an aeroplane to get there.

You never know though, might liven up a bit once I arrive Smile

Well, there's a nice route from Droitwich to Stratford, on the bike Smile Aside from that I can't think of much else. I used to play squash in the leisure centre there occasionally, breaking up the journey from Worcester back to Wolves after work..This was a long time ago mind !! Alas, Trotter Hall disappeared long ago, to be replaced(taken over) and renamed as the Copcut Elm, a Hungry Horse pub Sad

Dogs totally exhausted though still didn't want to come home, a few nice meals out & a day spent visiting the floods along the river Severn.

Mostly, I read a few books in front of the log burner, which for me is about as close to heaven as I like to be.

You didn't visit the Salt museum?
I've spent a bit of time in the Barley Mow, not the best pub around but it was always an easy stumble back to my brother's place.
