She's done some girl-on-girl experimentation.

Can't believe this hasn't attracted more uprates. How long before his recent -come out- involves his involvement in the police's recent re-opening of the Barrymore scandal.

Of course this has nothing to do with Boyle's removal from the BBC's rotation during this time period, despite his popularity. Because we know that the BBC is squeaky clean when it comes to outing it's worst sexual offenders.

Schofield was there. I bet you.

Google Matthew McGreevy.

There is possibly a super injunction suppressing any media reveal.
Social media accounts have certainly been removed after asking too many questions.

I don't think it relates to Barrymore at all.

I suspect that in the coming weeks, one way or another, Matthew McGreevy will become a very rich man.

We won't know about it though.

Matthew McGreevy is 22 and Schofield is 57.

The first contact between them that can be found was in 2011.

McGreevy's career seems to all be around shows involving Schofield.

In the game of "celebrity guess who", did anyone say Schofield?

I'm curious as to why one would conceal sexuality in the most gay-friendly industry in the world?

It's not the industry that's the problem, it's the public, especially when he started.

1985, right in the middle of the AIDS thing, when being gay was worse than being a leper, there he is as the lead presenter on a kids programme, coming out would've been career suicide.

His image was always squeaky clean and once you start out convincingly living a lie, it's much easier to maintain the status quo.

As I said in my earlier post, there are still shit loads of people in the media who are up to all sorts (and everyone knows) but they still think it wouldn't do their public profile any good to own up; they're probably right too and it was 100 times worse 35 years ago.

Possibly fair comment. But also consider that he hasn't been involved in kid's TV since the early 90s (according to wikipedia), which also coincides with the time he got married (1993). Getting married to an unwitting woman is surely the biggest single play a gay man has when it comes to covering up his sexuality, so Schofield had a pretty big decision to make at that point; ie that he was going to be staying firmly in the closet indefinitely.

As a backdrop to 1993: consider also people like Elton John, who had been 'out' for years with no discernible effect to his career despite the best efforts of The Sun (and he got together publicly with David Furnish in the same time Schofield got married). I'm sure there are many others who I can't think of off the top of my head. Also, there are, and always have been over the years, any number of 'confirmed bachelors' in the public eye who have stayed in the closet for whatever reason, at least publicly. Had Schofield been one of those, and had just chosen to come out now, I would have respect for him. But marrying that poor woman and having kids? He's a 100% shit in my view.

I have to agree.

I also don't think he would have come out at all unless there was a trigger reason, whether that be all these conspiracy theories with Matthew McGreevy or something else.

I'd have to point out that the desire to procreate and have kids has absolutely no connection to your sexual identity.

In May 2013 Mcgreevy posted about long overdue catchup with Schof over a pint.

If Ste is correct, he would have been 15 at the time Surprised

No. But you'd have to be a complete psychopath to use that as a justification to hoodwink an unwitting woman into marrying you. Elton managed fatherhood OK without doing so (notwithstanding his brief marriage to a woman in the '80s, of course)

I'm sure there's an explanation.

After all, going for a pint is a bit different to Schof presenting him with his Pink One (not the full licence variety).

Seems a bit unfair, that suggests some sort of malice aforethought.

I've no doubt there was some career protection going on, but you can't discount the idea he was repressing his sexuality, on the basis that if he did it long enough, he could 'get over it'.

It might seem a bit far fetched today, but things have moved on a lot, even in the last 10 years.

Looks like it's settling down for Schof.

Thanks to suicides, flat earth, and Coronavirus, public attention has moved on.

In the meantime, all the previous front page google hits for Matthew McGreevy have been quietly removed Thumbs Up

“There has definitely been a Non-Disclosure Agreement and a pay off.”

Thumbs Up

Basically it's one of those where they'll do everything to keep it under wraps, but if one little bugger gets through they'll be a Weinstein style #metoo fallout, where suddenly everyone realises they knew about it all along.

Egads! Don't tell me we have another Rolf Harris Shocked It'd break my wife's heart Crying or Very sad She's a big This Morning fan.

And poor Holly! I can picture it now, as the interviewer asks: "...but you must have known something was up?" As she attempts to wipe away a tear with her hand but the moisture rolls down her delicate cheek, past lips that no longer smile. It lingers for a moment and tumbles into the place, while lost from human sight, that is not from imagination: her copious clev....

Erm... I think I need brisk walk in the midnight air Shifty
