Dear Mrs P. Butter
Welome to BCF, where you start a thread to kinda introduce yourself and get a few answers about being a noob, and your thread is hijacked and turned into a pissing contest between ubermensch of widely varying levels of sanity and intelligence.
Its how we roll ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

What's the life expectancy of a BCF noob? (And I don't mean falling off those dangerous motorcycles.)
I think Peanut_Butter will survive. Welcome to BCF, where you learn new words. Ubermensch
I'll try to use it tomorrow. |

Peanut, here's some quality info about £1500 bikes. This site is very well informed and sensible.

Well, that surprised me!
Cheap bike to run around on for a year or two, eh?
You have jumped straight in at the deep end of fun
I've been riding for over 30 years and found the Street Triple to be a great little bike. It's very much capable for experienced riders, but it is also very forgiving. I warn you though; your head might split in two when the grin gets too wide! ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

The great thing with bike riding is that it's ALL about you. Which you've clearly found. Being able to choose your own thing and then go out on it and concentrate solely on it is a thing to be cherished.
Good choice on the Striple, i reckon your only issue will be what to replace it with when the time comes ____________________ Module 1 and 2 passed - October 2014. Happy owner of a 2017 Z1000SX, ex owner of a YBR125 / CB500 / VFR800. |

My first bike was also the one I wanted, no practical considerations came into it. Not that I had anybody to advise me, but I probably would have ignored them if they had anyway. For me, biking is an affair of the heart, and I've made very few choices I would consider bad ones.
We need to see pics of your new steed! ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

Just take your time getting to know it. It has enough, as I said, to keep very experienced riders happy, but it can be docile too. The fact that it has a good spread of torque makes it very easy to ride at slower paces. I rode mine for some months as if I was riding my litre bike - took me a while to 'get it', or at least what it's forte was (caning it on twisty B roads ). That much may be beyond you for some time (but maybe you're a quick learner), but you don't have to be an aspiring Mark Marquez to enjoy it.
Having said that, it might be worth your while getting some advanced rider training to help you get into it a bit quicker. Perhaps after you're comfortable just riding it around generally. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017
