Dear Mrs P. Butter
Welome to BCF, where you start a thread to kinda introduce yourself and get a few answers about being a noob, and your thread is hijacked and turned into a pissing contest between ubermensch of widely varying levels of sanity and intelligence.

Its how we roll Rolling Eyes Cool Mr. Green Thumbs Up

What's the life expectancy of a BCF noob? (And I don't mean falling off those dangerous motorcycles.)

I think Peanut_Butter will survive. Welcome to BCF, where you learn new words. Ubermensch Thumbs Up
I'll try to use it tomorrow.

I'll go with Untermensch.

My Sanity is non existent and swings wildly with drug use.

Intelligence is pretty low but I hide it with a varying degree of success.

there's some good points here, great advice and some great people, as with all forums there's a few not so friendly chat shit sorts, but very few. Smile

Peanut, here's some quality info about £1500 bikes. This site is very well informed and sensible.

Well, that surprised me!
Cheap bike to run around on for a year or two, eh? Laughing

You have jumped straight in at the deep end of fun Very Happy
I've been riding for over 30 years and found the Street Triple to be a great little bike. It's very much capable for experienced riders, but it is also very forgiving. I warn you though; your head might split in two when the grin gets too wide!

The great thing with bike riding is that it's ALL about you. Which you've clearly found. Being able to choose your own thing and then go out on it and concentrate solely on it is a thing to be cherished.

Good choice on the Striple, i reckon your only issue will be what to replace it with when the time comes Smile

I went looking at a second hand SV650 as I was going to go cheap with a run around. I love triumphs I think they are gorgeous and in my head I was going to end up with one eventually.
Saw the triumph and I didn't want anything else. Sat on her and she felt great. Sounded great. Price was top end of what I wanted to pay but it's only done 900 miles

Rode it 45miles home yesterday, was quite nervous about it and was thinking shiiiiit because I didn't know the way either.
Stalled on a HUGE hill start about 2 minutes in but after that I was fine. Started the ride thinking I'd bitten off more than I could chew and when I got home I was thinking about what my next bike will be 😁

Bike is currently in our conservatory. I'm sat at the dining room table in there just looking at her. I'm in love

My first bike was also the one I wanted, no practical considerations came into it. Not that I had anybody to advise me, but I probably would have ignored them if they had anyway. For me, biking is an affair of the heart, and I've made very few choices I would consider bad ones.

We need to see pics of your new steed!

Just take your time getting to know it. It has enough, as I said, to keep very experienced riders happy, but it can be docile too. The fact that it has a good spread of torque makes it very easy to ride at slower paces. I rode mine for some months as if I was riding my litre bike - took me a while to 'get it', or at least what it's forte was (caning it on twisty B roads Twisted Evil ). That much may be beyond you for some time (but maybe you're a quick learner), but you don't have to be an aspiring Mark Marquez to enjoy it.
Having said that, it might be worth your while getting some advanced rider training to help you get into it a bit quicker. Perhaps after you're comfortable just riding it around generally.

Excellent choice. I loved mine, it just wasn't so good for all the distance touring I was doing at the time.

Wonderful fun on the twisties though. Thumbs Up

I did in the end. Only went to look but couldn't help myself. Someone of the bikes looked a bit grotty but this one looked in really good nick so I was persuaded.

I would post a picture but for some reason can't...

TBH the forum attachments system is a bit shite. Easier to upload somewhere else and then just wrap the link, e.g.

Nobody has mentioned how gorgeous she is...🤔 It's very much a girl's bike with a pearly white finish.
