Pepperami the fat-boi has steadily put on weight during this lockdown-covid nonsense.
Oh boy! Did those extra few pounds come back to bite me on the arse last week.
I had to do a full weeks physical graft last week and it nearly finggg killed me .
Carrying that extra weight made me a lot slower and puffing & blowing a lot more!
Back to trying to be moderate in what I consume . ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |

I'm still not at weighing myself stage but I would say I have lost about 7kg (a stone/ish). It's nowhere near as much as I need to really lose but I already notice that I have a lot less belly than I used to. Still way too much, but a lot less than there was.
I keep being able to get into old pairs of jeans that I had got too fat for. So once I have managed to get them on, and checked to make sure I can still sit down in them, then they keep me motivated, walking upright, and well reminded of what my ultimate goal is. And it helps me stick to my guns. Usually.
The keto thing gave me a kick start in the right direction, and I kind of try to stick to it, but nowadays I let myself have little things now and then.
When I feel my body won't stop shouting at me for it, in the manner of "I WANT A HUGE STEAMING PLATE OF NOODLES SIMMERED IN CHICKEN STOCK GRAVY WITH PARSLEY, BUTTER AND CREAM" ... or "You must eat four chip butties within the next five minutes or you will die!"
Then I have a little bit of whatever it is I fancy, cos if I don't I will end up binge eating and lose the motivation.
Mind you, tonight I was hankering after some spaghetti to have with the bolognese sauce I found in the freezer (who put that there? must have been the military type ... ) but eventually I managed to talk myself into frozen broccoli, carrots and cauli instead. The same, but not. Veg bol, still kinda works.
Its the eating that is the comfort, not the actual food.

Actually, I haven't got an ultimate goal.
That weight is FAR TOO FAR away.
But just looking and feeling better in myself has become a goal in itself.
And I'm definitely achieving that without too much problem so far.
And then I can plan future goals as they arrive on my horizon.
Long journey back from being this size.
Confident that I'm on my way back to a better place, though.

Hope this isn't off topic, but one for the older members..... is it normal to be gaining a little weight as you get older?
I'm gaining about half a pound a month that I can't seem to shift |

Yaaah that was the excuse I was using
When I noticed my midriff thickening about 5 years ago, I was like, oh hell, I'm officially getting old now. ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

Looking at an end goal can feel quite daunting and dispiriting so
I give myself short term local milestones to try for.
Recently I hit the 86.5kg milestone which was a loss of 20KG from 106.5kg in January
and allowed myself a day off for pizza and a pint of cider on a day I felt particularly tired and low.
Oddly, it wasnt the scrumptious pleasure I thought it would be and in fact have enjoyed some of my
low carb grub more.Go figure.
Anyroadup
Now I'm back on the wagon again and eyeing 85, not focussing on 80 just yet.
I'm already lighter than I was in 2008 ( 90kg)
I'm kind of in the habit of eating low carb and intermittent fasting
now and self discipline/willpower aint in it very much which is just as well
cos I aint got none.
Everyone has to find their own route to salvation but
here are my own observations and methods.
I keep a record and graph of progress ( or lack of)
to see the overall trend
Weight can easily go up and down about a kilogram a day so DONT PANIC!
records and graphs give better indications than momentary readings.
Sleep is so important
If I sleep well I can go all day without wanting food
and intermittent fasting is piece of piss
If I dont sleep well and feel lousy I get obsessed and ravenous about food.
I ignore all that calories apps bollox, if I'm truly hungry I eat, if not I dont.
It's ok to have a wee treat now and again as long as we do it conciously
(or mindfully if you're one o them filthy hippy bastards)
'Stalls' where weight loss seems to have stopped isn't uncommon
DONT PANIC! just keep up the good work.
Do your homework and read labels to see how much sugar in all its forms and carbs is in the stuff you are going to eat
if we keep the carbs low enough our bodies quite naturally burn our own stored fat. ____________________ bikers smell of wee |

Seem to have fallen off the wagon a bit.
Fridge is empty so i am scavenging whatever else there is, like cheese and biscuits, or not eating at all, not really motivated to eat, not sure why my appetite has disappeared. Although i did have a fry-up yesterday , with toast, but that was the only thing i had all day. i made some chicken stock yesterday, meaning to make risotto, even though its got rice, I thought nah, fuck it, have some rice for a change. And then i couldnt even be arsed doing that.
If i order some shopping, then i will have veg and meat to play with, but i am finding it hard to finish anything at the moment, even a shopping list is a bit of an effort.
Must try harder.
I'm blaming the exotic herbal fudge I bought last weekend.
Its quite an intrepid experience.
I must throw out all the jeans that are now way too big, cos I don't want to eat my way back into them ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

It’s the little things that help me .
Only one biscuit if i have a cup of tea instead of half a packet.
Only one piece of toast with breakfast from now on.
Takeaways are now a treat rather that a regular staple of my eating habits.
Oh God! I’m turning into ‘goody two shoes’ , next I’ll be eating vegetarian sausages ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |

Having a lack of proper food in the house has made me strangely anorexic.
But I am back in the cooking mojo again today, currently throwing together a chicken curry to have with pumpkin mash.
Might have half a glass of wine with it.

I've blown all me wages
But I do have a lot of nice food in the house.
Lots of fresh fruit and veg, and a nice wide range of meat and dairy products.
As well as some bits and bobs to last me over the Christmas period.
Although I *do* have a little cat-sitting job lined up that will keep me in petrol, sauternes and pate over the hols.
Feeling perky enough at the moment to make an effort with dancing spastically in time to music doing some ex****se. ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

I'm not yet inclined to follow along with anyone.
Closest I get to Jane Fonda is watching Grace & Frankie.
I tend to just dance like a spaz on a hot tin roof, making sure to include some form of reps for bingo wings. Not that it will make any difference to 'em now, nothing short of nukes will rid me of them.
Or surgery ...
But then, several of my acquaintances have preferred gastric band surgery, whereas I've proved to myself that I can still do alright with food management techniques.
(see what I done there)
So spazzercise and/or calisthenics may still prove ultimately to have some value, even at my extended age.
Fucking Siggi. It's all his fault ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

My legs have noticeably slimmed somewhat (still not enough) that I can now slip my boots off without unzipping them.
Even with two pairs of bootcut jeans on ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

It is pleasing to report a loss of two dress sizes, approx 21lb.
This was through following a lazy version of Keto for about 10 weeks with no additional exercise, yay! For the record, I hate exercise. I haven't run or raised my heart rate since doing cross-country at school*
No beer, cake, pastry, sugar, sweeties or spuds.
On Keto you get to eat lots of MEAT, eggs, cream, cheese, butter, mayo, non starchy veg. A little fruit, full fat greek yoghurt. One large gin per night with slimline tonic. A little 85% cocoa chocolate when cravings kick in.
Once a week, a half bottle of bubbly with fillet steak cooked with mushrooms, peas, onion rings and 6 (yes only ) chips.
Breakfast/brunches are bacon, eggs, sausage, mushrooms, but NO toast.
Lunches are soup or avocado with prawns.
Snacks are cold sausage, hard-boiled eggs, lump of cheese or nuts.
So, not that hard to do.
I no longer need (formerly, daily, prescribed) GERD medication, despite the higher level of fats in my meals. I'm not breathless after walking upstairs any more and have much more energy.
I'd say giving up beer was hardest, especially when it was hot. An ice cold Keo was the greatest thing ever. Oh and pizza.
Kate Moss said "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.". She's wrong, nothing tastes better than Keo and pizza.
However being not out of breath with heartburn, bulging out of too-tight jeans feels good.
So I'll settle for that.....for now.
*And that was only cuz I had detoured to my mate's house for tea and biscuits and was scared of getting caught. ____________________ Whether you think you can, or think you can't, you're probably right |
