Although Whitchurch is much more of an armpit than the article states.

Great cartoonist, the detail and draughtsmanship was excellent.

Standard Deauvilles are dull as ditchwater, but they're also comfy, reliable and anonymous so no-one wants to steal them. This guy has managed to successfully replace those worthy qualities with.... other things. Like the aesthetics of a hunchback water buffalo after a road traffic accident.

I rode a divvy across Europe many years ago. A mate then bought it and he and I rode to Croatia and back, me on my GoldWing, he on that. Cracking middleweight tourers. Cannot fault them for what they are until you do what buggerlugs in Zen Dog's kink has done. That's gross.

Divvy or Deauville Polarbear?

'Divvys' are the usual parlance for Yamaha Diversions
the 900 of which is/was good shafty tourer.

Honda Deauville or 'dullsville' another shafted tourer
Not sporty or sexy at all but had good rep for reliability
and clocking up miles

'Real bikers' were always rather dismissive about them esp the Honda

Some interesting bits on it I suppose. I googled the hell out of it but can find out no more about the original build - would be interesting. Could be Pumford not Pumpford ..?

Yeah, I spent as little bit of time looking at frames to see if I could identify it. That tank might be NTV but the frame definitely isn't. It's twin spar aluminium (so 1985+), and a swoopy casting (1998+?). Long and low geometry looks cruiser. Swingarm pivot/footpeg is really distinctive, but I still couldn't identify it. My best guess is post-2000 japanese cruiser.

I think that's possibly the best colour they ever did them in, if you wanted to make a bold statement, as if riding a Wing isn't bold enough Laughing

The reason he's got 3-inch chicken strips is because if he turns left, the exhaust hits the ground and the back wheel lifts off the road.

That tail really takes the biscuit. Laughing I don't know why, but it just looks like it belongs on a Hardly or a similar cruiser.

Why is that left exhaust so different from the right? Is it just the angle? It bugs me.

I reckon its because the shaft tube is thicker than the other side
and wont allow for it to be held any closer the frame
Also it's twisted at a different angle to the RH side
