This ones another overpriced piloshite

1979 GL650?
Nope, they didn't make the GL650's until 1983
and they had triple spine frames with mono shock suspension
different wheels too
(Pic below)
Going by the tank thats probably a 500 Custom or GL500 frame with 1980+ reverse Comstar wheels
and forks
Maybe a 650 lump though but with 500 inlets and carbs cos 650 carbs
wont fit in a single spine frame.
No mention of jetting mods esp with pod filters

"but he then ran it low on oil and it over heated"
So, fucked engine then.
he then blethers on about cylinder heads n shit
and want's some mug to throw almost grand away on it !!
If I wanted another cx type project I wouldn't touch it

This is the mongrel in question

Is that plastic gears I see in the gearbox?

That's quite a lump, wouldn't you say? Gears are probably nylon used to drive the oil pump or other such light load fuction. Very unlikely a gear like that would be used to transmit power.

Someone had me look at a bike once. " It was running fine and then it stopped. " The rev counter cable had siezed up- the plastic gear driving it eventually snapped off- andit went the drive gears between the crank and the clutch. It had snapped the engine in half, split the crankcases. Me= "Was there a loud bang?"

Gubment says it's Turquoise and Mot'd until July
I reckon that was pre mutilation cos it wouldn't pass with no
numberplate light.

It's just another
"I wasted a shit ton of dosh on this crap, now I want some
other mug to do the same"

Preaching to the choir I know but,
when you think of what you could get for £8500
why would anyone waste it on that?

or for exactly half the price of the BMW, you could have this fine piece of engineering...

You just have to admire the work that's gone into it, how they have attached the rear shock is something else !

Well here is a great concept I've never considered before, just get a bike, any bike and re-badge it to any other Manufacturer you like.

I know what your thinking, 'That's a stupid idea' but wait, think about it, if you were stupid then it becomes a great idea.

What about a Sinnis re badged into a BMW, or a Lexmoto with Ducati badges?

Is this a great idea or has somebody just lost the plot completely?

WTF is that? Is it actually some weird mashup, or is it just a Yamaha with Triumph on the tank and sidepanels for some reason?

It is 100% Yamaha with Triumph logos.
If it had some Triumph bits on it you could get away with calling it a Yamaumph. Laughing

Don't see what all the fuss is about.
they do say imitation is the highest form of flattery.

On a similar theme, I was out on the bike pootling about in the countryside a few years ago, and had a bike come up behind me in the mirrors. Looked like a Suzuki Burgman maxi scooter thing. Slightly embarrassed to be getting chased by a scooter, I sped up a bit, and he just sat there in my mirrors. So I sped up a bit more, not crazy speeds, but definitely brisk now. Still there. Ended up thinking this must be the world's fastest scooterist. Till we got to a junction and he pulled up next to me. It was a bloody Busa...
