Apparently:
Quote: | goes well with all the weight removed and carves corners nicely. |
It reeks of failure and disappointment, and I'm strangely fascinated with it. I'm not altogether unsympathetic. Having the ability to conceive of something in the realm of the possible, yet lacking the mental faculties to realise it, is a distressing and tragic facet of the human condition. I'm sure we've all experienced it to some degree. For example, take a famous work of art. It was possible for someone to conceive the idea and then, using their skill, make it manifest. In most cases, the artist was talented, i.e. he or she did not encounter much difficulty in picking up the basic skills he would need in order to execute his grand works, which isn't to say that acquiring those basic skills came easily to them or that they didn't have to work for it.
Ambition without ability results in grandiosity and then failure. I think we might be uncomfortable with that idea, because we want to believe that anyone of at least average intelligence can achieve anything at all if they set their mind to the task. However, innately, we know that isn't true. Or, at least, if they do achieve it, then it the ship would have sailed long before they could benefit from what they had learned. In this case, the ship was the 2014-ish craze for ill-conceived cafe racers, and it's left the harbour, leaving this and other forlorn non-starters behind. Has realisation fully dawned on its creator? I wonder... Was it his lot or fate to simply be impressionable and hoodwinked by the whole cafe racer craze and spend all his savings on an unrideable piece of junk a tatted-up hipster sold to him? Was that the only means open to him to become and belong to a part of a scene, or was it a desperate bid for freedom from millenial thinking?
Well, I don't know. Maybe I'm thinking about it too much. But I think it tells quite a story. Especially with the quixotic addendum about random strangers being attracted to the bike. |

Of all the shitbox bikes in this thread, that's the first one that actually lead to an instant sharp intake of breath.
Slightly O/T, I frequently see a guy near where I work on an otherwise standard 250 SD, but with Ace bars - I've often wondered if he has an extreme form of kyphosis, or just fancies feeling like he's on a sports bike, without any of the performance/handling.
Edited to add: folks, if you're going to do this shizzle, put some thought into it, like this bloke

Would you believe it? I didn't even notice the swastika and SS stuff before I noticed the cafe hoop and short pipes! |

I quite like the BMW tbh.
There are a few things to set right. Plus I wouldn't ride it home without going over the tank with a can of matt black. But I've seen much worse executions of "cafe racers".
The CX500 reminds of the chair in this scene:
