Not sure but think the 88 has some meaning to Aryan brotherhood types
(Aha! a wee google just gave this:

The 88 number stand for the 8th. letter of the alphabet . HH symbolises “Heil Hitler” which was a german salute meaning “Save Hitler”. When meeting someone, it was customary in Nazi Germany to give the Hitler salute and say the words “Heil Hitler!“.)

Keep wondering if he missed a trick not calling it Zyklon instead of Cyclone for added bad taste and to keep the old
Nazi theme type thing going.

I'm not judging or criticising of course!!
Our beloved Harry dressed as a Nazi and he's married to a black woman
of colour so it must be all right to do this sort of thing

Talking of problematic royalty, did the paparazzi ride a CX500 in the tunnel 'cos great swathes of beard oil purchasers seem to have it in for the poor old Honda Thinking

That BMW is hilarious, pretty smart way to convince the mrs you tried as hard as you could to sell it, but for some reason nobody was interested.

Just... why? I get the "take CG125, apply beard oil, profit!" aspect of the whole Café Racer schtick but that bike is both horrible, pointless and undesirable.

One day people will look back at this time of ' cafe racers' with their brown seats and 'where has the back end of the bike gone' look, with the same incredulousness that people have for the the late sixties early seventies look.
36" over front forks 18" ape hangers , sissy bars and exhaust 6 feet high. I look at them and go " Yeah , but Why, FFS ?"

I have a good imagination but I just can't imagine how, or in what circumstances, this could be considered desirable or aesthetic. Never mind the engineering and functionality issues. Plus, nobody did this to XL600s in the 80s.

This kind of intrigued me but further examination put me off
Dip switch nowhere near grip - nah looks sloppy
ground terminal at inlet manifold - dont like that
straight through exhausts + no air filter - loud dont mean good
no front mudguard - dont ride in rain
Smiths speedo - is it calibrated for the sender?
slipped forks - springs adjusted to compensate for reduced movement?
No MOT - ok maybe its exempt but there's still an expectation of roadworthiness
and an MOT would prove this
Illegal numberplate?

I wouldn't throw 2 grand at it as I reckon its just a tarted up rat bike

Looks like bicycle handlebars, an eBay Special headlamp bucket and zero effort made on the seat Thinking

TBF a nice job on the tank (actually another eBay special) but it's like they got half way in and rushed the rest Sad

I reckon the bars are proper motorcycle ones as they're similar
to what I have on my old thing.

What annoys me is how it's so obviously just another
over priced form over function build.
I see its missing its starter motor too.

Sod the bars/headlamp/seat/tank, I hope those springs are really stiff, because with the weight of an average rider on them, it looks like the tyres will be fouling the bodywork, nevermind the state of UK roads.

Good shout. Probably the rear shocks are shorter than stock given they've dropped the forks as well.

For comparison, this CD200 is pretty unfucked and £300 cheaper

I've always wondered how they go, too.

And the Suzuki SB200. Comfortable commutor bikes.

What I'd do with that bike is strip off the indicators and fit some older style chrome ones - possibly the brake light if I found something nicer - and replace the exhaust system with something in the exact same style but slightly smaller.

Apologies for being such a philistine!

As A100man says, its still a 15hp bike on a good day
so probably no more efficient or faster than a current efi 125

We all know things drop off, get knocked off or rust and wear out over time and bikes as they aged would get ratted or modded to compensate.
I always liked rat bikes, it was cheap creative fun you did to a bike
past its best years, no one took it seriously.

Rat bikes were mostly built to ride, even in the rain!
This current trend of overpriced form over function polished turds
make a bike so ludicrously expensive any idiot who buys on dare not
use it like a regular bike lest it gets scratched, dirty or devalued.
