If you took a 40yo bike and dropped in a 5yo EFI engine that might be outside the spirit of "historic vehicle" Thinking

Which I think is why they did it, to stop people buying up old crap and fitting modern running gear.

If I had to have a Diesel bike I think I'd go here, he'll even do it in a pre '72 Brit frame so you can scam the MOT and tax. https://www.pricepartmotorcycles.co.uk/page_2219102.html

Kind of depressing that the better of the engine options is all of 13BHP

Sounds like a lot of money to burn just to be overtaken by kids on 125 Laughing

What am I missing? Why would anyone want a diesel motorcycle? I am struggling to work out the value-added side of it that makes it worth while.

By the time 10BHP (or 13 if feeling spendy) at the crank has got through the primary, the albion shitbox and made it to the wheel, I suspect kids on a semi-sorted 50 will be whizzing past Laughing

Insane MPG. But yeah I think it's at the extreme end of weirdo-niche.

It must be super-niche, what MPG would someone expect? I am double the weight of the average person and I still get about 280 - 310 miles from a £15 tank of petrol on my Chink 125cc. I suspect that someone who's normal weight would get significantly better economy.

Not sure how correct this is but I've heard in the 200MPG ballpark. I think a standard tank is about 3 gallons so 600+ miles. You can buy a larger tank that is about 4 gallons... 800+ miles.

Your figures are somewhere around the 100 mpg mark assuming your bike is showing you miles, some Chinese bikes show distance in KM even if the speedo is in MPH.

I suppose if we're talking "End of the World" then diesel is a lot easier to make in your backyard on a small scale compared to a petrol replacement Thinking

Stores a lot longer too. I only just finished pouring stuff in my car that I acquired 2 years ago. I suspect modern petrol wouldn't have lasted anywhere near as long.

Agree with you on petrol not lasting as long. I put petrol in a green plastic container for my lawnmower last summer and then when I cracked it open again this summer it was shit, the mower was coughing and spluttering on it. Siphoned it out and replaced with fresh fuel and it went back to normal.

The castrater is for show, you'll actually fall back on to the wheel when the homemade mount for the monoshock breaks.

It needs a longer chain, so it can wrap itself around your leg and rip it off as punishment for riding it.

What is the reasoning for an extended swing-arm on such a bike? I've only seen such on drag bikes and hill racing bikes. A side effect of bodging fitting the monoshock?

'The previous owner was a fabricator' !! of what? Please tell so I don't ever have to walk near or under any of the shite..

..I'm guessing the SA was extended to get some kind of tolerable angle on the mono-shock I doubt however its improved the handling and I wouldn't be trusting my hide to someones else's pigeon-shit welding.

All in all I think you'd get much more kudos at the Super Sausage arriving on the original (below) rather than this 'completed' (Lol) POS.

The previous owner was a fabricator [of scaffolding] and so takes the c̶r̶e̶d̶i̶t̶ blame for many of the custom changes.

This will be her last MOT as in October she will be 40 years old and can move to Historic status whereby she will be Tax and MOT exempt, whereupon "she" will become an illustrative and noisy example for those who wish to campaign for the repeal of the currently tolerant and liberal historic vehicle rules.
