The larger the reservoir the more time the oil has to cool down
as it gets cycled.
Not sure if it had an oil cooler when new, doesn't look like it has one now anyway.
feckin heater if anything going by that stupid exhaust

Exhaust is load!

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kawasaki-ZXR750-H1-Custom-Sports-Bike-/174946823541?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m2548.l6249&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0

The vendor says ‘out of MoT’, it expired in Sep 20, when it first failed with “Motorcycle structure is so deformed it is likely to adversely affect braking or steering number plate fouling rear suspension (6.1.1 (a) (ii))” - I wonder what he did to rectify that?

Why does it need such a large oil tank? I know I’m a noob to biking and mechanics, etc but it’s confusing me why it needs a dedicated oil tank. For lubing the chain?

Dry sump engine. This is something a bit more obvious on a high performance car engine. Instead of an oil pan being the reservoir the oil is scavenged and pumped back to an external tank. More on Harley's specific flavour here:

https://www.revzilla.com/common-tread/why-harley-davidsons-have-dry-sump-engines

A few other manufacturers did the same, old Triumphs for example where the frame was hollow and acted as an oil tank or "oil-in-frame." Part 2 on this diagram is the oil filler cap:

What's the deal with the front brake lines?

Its unfinished so the lines are just hanging loose.

Note also the lack of fuel lines (so its not had the carbs set up properly for those pod filters and straight through exhaust pipe)

Also wiring hanging out under the seat so it needs a wiring loom making.

Thanks, pretty interesting, I didn't even think about that at all, I always thought motorcycles had wet sumps. The more you know Embarassed

I do admire the "Leg Amputation" Number plate...

Also it took 12 months to do that to it?
Just tie it to the car and drag it around the block.

Amazing, all bottom dollar parts I recognise from eBay. Not that there's anything wrong with that, if used judiciously.

Tank looks to have been dropped in the workshop several times, panel on one side only, chain cover binned, horrendous colour, the list is endless. The thing is with some care it might even have been barely passable Rolling Eyes

Here's a much better CG125 for that sort of money. That a shop would even put its name to that beggers belief.

Fuck me. Even that is in the 'dust off and nuke it from orbit, just to be sure' category.

Admittedly I found CG125s hateful things full of slowness and regret having passed on one during the era of quite spectacular 2T nutcase job 125. The only trouble was my RG125 had the turning circle of a narrow boat so wasn't suitable.
